So i was freaked out when the doc told me this and was like "How the f**k did this happen?!!"
Hes like "actually its not quite clear." And im like shaking my head "I feel like such a dirty skank for having this, im so ashamed right now". Hes like "No no, its not that type of herpes. I kinda wish they didnt even call it herpes cuz its a different animal. You see anyone whose had chickenpox can get herpes zoster, because its the same virus but the first time u get it its chicken pox. Usually it lays dormant for most ppl but in times of immunosuppresion it resurfaces as the shingles. Usually old ppl get it."

So that made me feel a little less dirty, and he said after a week of valtrex i would be good to go. He said usaully ppl dont have more than a few outbreaks in their lifetime and he said he'd be suprised if i ever got it again. So whatever.

...I still kinda feel like a skank everytime i look at it though lol

Dude I have had that since I was a kid, it breaks out every couple of years on my lip. The trick is to feel it coming. You will sense a tingling on your lips when it happens, if you hit it with the topical creams they make now straight away it will never break out. You dont have a big window of opportunity, so I always have some cream handy just in case, because it hurts like a bitch when it does break

Abreava!!!! I got hit in the face with a baseball when I was younger and ever since then ever 3 years or so I get a nasty cold sore, I use to get a prescription med when I lived at home, but have no idea what it was, and then just used carmex and other OTC meds, until Abreava came out, It was a god sent! Its like $14 bucks for the smallest tube in the world, but worth every penny!

Kale. sounds like u have herpes simplex, which is the kind u get on ur lip or dick. My is zoster, and it spreads around the trunk area. Its on my back, and it looks like its trying to make its way around to the front.

Are OK sorry dude, yes I have seen that turn to shingles. My young daughter was 2 when she was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor. She had lots of chemo which weakened her immune system. We were on a holiday in Queensland when we noticed these small blisters on her lower back, in just a day two turned into twenty. By the time we got her home five days later she was in hospital on a morphine drip. Nastiest fvcking thing I have ever seen, and in her case it also turned into a thing called Post Herpetic Neuralgia and according to the Dr's its feels like being stabbed with a knife. It also can occur on the face and can cause blindness.

I am sure that wont happen to you but I would have a round of acyclevere tablets around just in case.

i take care of an elderly couple and the wife has shingles.... very unfortunate, they are such very nice people and it's a shame this happens to them. it's a crazy story actually because when she first went to the doctor the doctor didn't notice it as shingles so it grew rose and now it may be a permanent disorder, she has to walk around the house on crouches because it's on her leg and she has to take pain killers all day every day and some days it's so bad she can't even get out of bed, she has such a good husband though, best of luck man

i was stuck rooming with a dude @ a basketball camp who had shingles lol it looks nasty and contagious- but according to him it wasn't, and well i didn't get a break out...and Abreva is heaven sent...my mom gave me the herp when i was a kid...fortunately its never been close to my dick, shit happens, but idk how i'd handle it....

Herpes on your lips and Herpes on your dick are two different types of the virus.
