Well two things you can consider. 1) Make a ficitious crime scene, just tear off a few parts from the car(little chips and what not) and place them on the ground near where the damage was done. Call the police so it looks veritable.
2) Getting you insurance involved will surely have an impact on you insurance premium. I doubt that your insurance will raise but if it does have an impact then it is something to consider. In the long run it might just be better to spend 700-800 to repair it yourself, just pushing out ideas to consider.

Hey Bro be careful, Cops& insurance ADJ. are trained in accident investigation, they will look for transfer marks from the vehicle that was hit, to establish a color and direction of travel, secondly if the person who was struck reported the evading accident (Sure they did) than the color of you GF's car is known, and guess what they'll be investigating -----pay out of pocket and save yourself the NIGHTMARE this can turn into.....

i wouldnt do it. i was just in a logging truck accident (he ran over my car and fled the scene)
insurance companies are hardcore when it comes to inspecting damage, and if the person in the other car gets word of it or finds out then her story is blown and shes going to be paying out the ass.

Ya, take care of this the right way the first time, and save yourself a load of trouble later on . . .

Oh my god. First, why commit felonies to cover up some damage to her car? If you kill someone, would you start using their credit cards? Your friend committed a crime and by making a false claim he is solidifying the story on record. If he does not get caught for hit and run he should at least be happy that he simply will have to pay for the one car. God, by submitting the false claim he is taking no responsibility for the action and seriously putting himself and his girlfriend at further risk of prosecution. I suppose there is no chance of having him go tell the people he hit that he is sorry and will make payments to fix their car. Since it was his girlfriends car, she will most likely be tracked down and thrown in jail if the car is fixed in a nearby shop. Good luck, but for future reference you should always instruct your friends to try not to break the law if they are asking for your opinion. Why put yourself in a position to have to defend the fact you instructed them to break the law if they get caught. If they end up in jail wouldnt you rather have told them to do the right thing?

yep, insurance fraud is a big deal because they have the $$$ to spend to catch you.. but you may get away with it, that's a whole different issue, as you will then think you can do more and more crime, until you are in jail and passed around like a pack of smokes..

DO NOT DO IT. It is risky just going to get it fixed up in the first place. Every garage has to report that kind of damage and trust me, the insurance company will find you. Same shit happened to me and I was located over 50 miles away from where it happened. I had left it weeks and got a letter a few days after I took it in and paid out of my own coin. My fault and I deserved it.
The Gov insurance in BC Canada actually goes through ppls facebook profiles and shit trying to find stuff. **** that shit.
