    Pimped Out Gym!!!

They just opened a really nice gym in my area. Has everything such as steam, sauna, internet cafe, all sound proof rooms for yoga and spin, a cushioned track, towel service, nice juice bar, massage, an artificial turf section to throw the baseball around, you name it they have it, including nice women!!! The coolest part is the cardio theater room, its a pitch black room with stars on the ceiling with a movie screen the size of the one you see in the movie theater!!! The cardio machines are set up so you can barely can see the person next to you. Feels like your doing cardio in outer space!!
Anyone belong to a real fancy gym similar to this? I go to NYSC now, and all I need is weights, but at the same time I would not mind a nice steam or sauna after a hard lift!!! However I kind of feel like I'm selling out if I go there. I have a hook up there so it's only 10 bucks more than what I pay now a month, so what would you guys do?

The cheaper the better in my opinion, as long as they have all standard equipment I'm good to go.

Yeh, I mean, hell... It's the nicest gym I've ever heard of... But seems a little overboard... Juice bar? Internet cafe? What does that have to do with a gym at all?

Its like one of those gyms like LA Athletic club, or EQUINOX, etc. I never thought I would need all that crap like you said, and probably won't, but at the same time I would not mind hanging out and shooting some hoops as a warm up, or taking a nice steam if I had a cold. But on the negative side, I just for some reason feel as if I am selling out!!!!!! I have a free month so I guess I will play it by ear..

Fcuk those type of gyms ... If you want that then go to Disney!! Real gyms are like Temple Gym in Birmingham England, real spit and sawdust places. That was good enough for Dorian and look where that got him!!

    sounds cool to me.

i'm all for having a nice gym (the one i work out at is ghetto).

that being said, its kind of a personal preference, some people like to be surrounded by nice things, some dont care.

this is an exert from a louie simmons article,

There are franchises and there are gyms. Westside Barbell is definitely a gym. What's the difference? A franchise is a place where they sell baggy pants, T-shirts, protein powder, and a whole bunch of junk you don't need. You can't make noise (don't even think about cursing), and chalk is forbidden. They have lots of mirrors (all you weirdo's who look in them for hours, you know who you are) and bodybuilding magazines featuring lots of girls and lots of bull.
So what does a gym have that's so important? First is attitude. Everyone must have the same goal, which is to get stronger. We don't care if you are trying a 300 bench press for a PR or a 600 PR.

That's no gym... that's a fitness center. I hate places like that. Where the member is just a number and another potential sales pitch participent. I know one thing for sure my crew wouldn't be welcome there and that's just the way I wanna keep it!

my girl sells gym memberships at LA fitness in a rich area (lake sucess, NY) on long island and the gym is about the size of a football field and a half, and has two floors.... 5 of every machine... 5 racket ball courts... a basketball court... sauna, steam room, indoor pool... flat screen tvs everywhere.... the gym i belong to is a private gym in a corporate building (only for employees of the building) and it has vertual golf, message therapist, acupuncture, indoor pool, steam room, sauna, towel service.... the machines are alittle older and not as big inside as where my girl works but it's a nice gym...

yea thats funny you say that i used to be a member at synergy on LI and it was a straight up dungeon.. that the basement flooded when i rained, and was a bunch of roudy juice heads... liften to get stacked, not to loose 50lbs of body fat... i used to love it there, all my boys would go there and everytime i walked in there, there were atleast 10 people i knew... memberships there went up and now i work out for free so i haven't been there in awhile but i miss it!

damn......the gym i used to go to was so ahead of its time, that when people dropped the weights, pieces would break off, so what they did was fill in the gaps/holes with quikrete.....genius idea......it would make the weights a lot heavier than than what it said they were......let me tell ya...that was AWESOME....lol naaa but ur gym does sound pretty superb.... one plus for sure would be the amount of rich women that go in and out of there...

I belong to a posh gym like the one you described. I like it because the weights and racks are all top quality (ivanko, hammer ect) and the gym is always clean and everything always works. Sometimes its nice to have a steam or spa after training too. I do get free entry to a couple of hardcore gyms and sometimes i go to them to get a different vibe or change machines ect. They both have there good points.

In my book spit and saw dust gyms dont compare to private memebers clubs.
Im in Esporta and it kicks the shit out of any gym i trained at before, not only is everything new and clean, there is everything you need, good advice in all aspects of fitness, spa sauna pool, masage, groomers, costas, cresh etc and the best thing you get some pro athletes in there which is good to pick their brains on new ideas rather than some big sweaty spotty 40 something roidy head who tells you creatine and vitamins are shite and all you need is Deca and sus.
Also i never saw one woman worth a second look in a hard core gym let alone a woman you go and do 30 mins of cardio just so you can watch her ass bouncing up n down while you drool.

Think I'm going to switch it up like you, a change of scenery and equipment I think might be good for the mind. Some days I might want that sweat and blood gym for lets say some power movements, and another days I might want to use some nice machines and be able to take a steam or a shower, which was not an option at my other gym. I guess its the best of both worlds!!

I'm actually trying to get a job at an LA fitness that is opening up near me in Lake Grove. That place is seriously huge. It'll probably be the biggest gym I've ever seen. It's the old Sports Plus if your familiar with the area.

man thats sounds like the Xsport by me. Suanas, classes, bball courts, jazz like that. As long a a gym has a good free weight section, im good. And women, there has to be some hot women doing treadmill or cable exercises or something. Thats the real eye candy. If its only 10 more dollars, id go for it. There so many hot moms in those kinda gyms.

you work out? I mean, look at your avatar bro, you need to get to a new gym. LOL...
IMO the posh gyms are better for me, that cardio room sounds awesome, i would totaly dig that and I dont do too much cardio, the theatre and lights is crazy. I started lifting at a straight powerlifting gym, chains, chalk and denim
was what we called it or CCD, it would leak from the rain so bad that it was always like 200% humidity all year, the windows stayed fogged up from like 8am till 10pm, I used tom pull up and just laugh about that. I had a key and could work out at 3am when my girl wouldnt pout out or something, it was great, I got into Bench meets and got really really strong working with some of those guys, I wouldnt trade that experience for the world. We had guys come in in jeans and boots and go pull like 700lbs, dumbells went up to 200lbs but started at 40lbs LOL, no 20's there. but now I go to a regular semi foo foo gym, it is like 25k square feet and has all hammer strength and cybex machines, good supply of free weights and plenty of cardio crap, i just cant drop weights or chalk anything up, but I dont do any PL anymore so it fits me just fine

I missed the old real gyms, the chains are taking over, they limit weights, ban chaulk and "normal lifting noise" ? WTF, My old World's Gym is now a planet fitness, no more dumbells over 70lbs!

I am going to open my own hardcore gym, where the freaks are welcome, my slogan will be "are you tough enough?" noise will be encouraged and no dumbells under 40lbs, I like that Idea, probably not really profitable concept but hopefully the genuine lifters/BB's will rebel against the temptation of the chains with there polished machines and drink bars!!!!!

The 1st gym I worked out in was a dungeon, but it had character and a dedicated clientele.

if you have the money and can afford two memberships a month then I would say go ahead and join. It is nice to get away and do cardio at a big ass place every once in a whiel. I go to my dungeon gym 90% of the time, but on weekends i will hit up the Bally's to scope the ladies and do some cardio in a new environment.

There is a place just like that 2 blocks from my house except mine has a basketball court instead of Astroturf. There nice I don’t go there but I have had a membership at one before. They are more of a social club than a gym. It’s a great way to promote a healthy life style. Great if you’re single! But if your not going to the gym for the girls mostly unnecessary.

I used to go to a fancy place until a week ago, Las Vegas Athletic club. The have an indoor pool which seemed to lead to an abnormaly high amount of naked guys in the locker room, and I don't mean naked guys that get dressed, I mean tons of guys just standing around talking to each other naked for extended amounts of time while im trying to get dressed. Now I go to golds and in the week I have been there I haven't seen one guys package so I'm pretty happy
