I finally got a phone call from him and went in and straightened everything out... Yeh... Only about 4% of the Air Force has to do with actually being a pilot (not to mention you need a 4 year degree and go through OCS) which I do not have and I need the GI bill they give you to get thru college. And from what I understand firefighting in the AF is a pretty kickass job... World class training, work 3 days on, 4 days off (don't know if that's the norm, but I was looking up some sources and read that). Also I talked with an Airman and he said his buddy is in firefighting and loves it, and my recruiter says when hes done he may go into it. And from what I've been told about the Air Force, it's the best branch to go into if you're looking to have a family... So if I decide to stay in I definately plan on having one (and this was from a former marine).

Do you want to be a firefighter you whole life? Not that there is anything wrong with that. But thats all you can do with what you are gonig to learn in the AF. If you learned electronics or other stuff you can do alot more jobs when you get out.
Last week you were posting on how you wanted to be rich. Thats not gonig to happen in the AF or being a fire fighter

Well everyone wants to be rich, but I personally would be happy with a liveable wage with some extra money... and most of the other jobs to choose from were just medical jobs... You can't have just any job you qualify, it has to be open when you pick your jobs (or if u want to switch before bootcamp)... Not to mention my parents are moving soon and I may be sleeping on a couch so I want to get out and on with my life... And if I decide not to stay in the Air Force, the experience along with being a firefighter will give me the ability to do anything I want in life and I plan on getting my degree.

Everyone goes Army... I personally think they should rename it, "Go Army... Go Iraq!" just playin', but in all seriousness I wanted to do something different... The majority of people I know went Navy or Marines, and then Army... I personally don't know anyone in the Air Force so that's why I decided to try it out... Not to mention AF has amazing bases

Firefighting would be good experience if you wanted to get a degree in Safety Engineering, Law Enforcement, or Chemistry.
Ya, and the USAF is the best if you're not looking for a military career. They offer the best living conditions, the best food, and minimize the mud and violence. When it's all over, you get the same benefits as the other guys who had to do all sorts of crazy things.
But if you want to work your butt off and make rank fast (or lose it just as fast when you screw up), well, the Army or Marines is the better choice.
