try "admin". A lot of wireless router companies use that has their default and then the homeowners don't change it.

If you have to ask, you will never hack the encryption no matter if it is WEP or WPA. Especially WPA.

so get a plan with a higher usage limit or get a wireline plan. the people you are trying to hack have limits too, and thieves like you push them over their limits. no wonder people protect their wi-fi connections

If it has a WEP key like suggested above, just give up. That is a combo of letters and numbers usually randomly generated by the router that has to inputted into your connection info. Oh, and if you do connect, anyone that knows what they are doing (which if the have an encryption key they probably do) they will know your in there. That is theft of service my friend, I know in the States that is a severe crime.

I just got done yelling at my friend for doing this. Yeah..He has 4 roomates and they can't seem to pony up the $10 each a month for internet
It's called "Theft of services" which can land you in trouble. And they can and probably will catch you eventually..

The whole reason we have been busting your balls is because it is illegal. What made you think "hacking" into a secured WAP was legal?
5.6Mbps is terrible. I think the majority confuse Megabits for Megabytes. Of course the companies promote "15Mbps" because it looks good but in reality it is only 1.8MB per second as in Megabytes. So with your connection you should be pulling down somewhere around 600kbps on downloads.Last edited by Panzerfaust; 02-28-2008 at 04:18 PM.

It's actually quite easy to crack WEP(like 20 seconds), and it get's quite a bit more difficult with WPA and WPA2, but not impossible.
