ok, i have a problem with this question :

A doctor gives you three pills telling you to take one every half hour. How many minutes would the pills last?

They say this is the answer : 60 - Start with the 1st pill, 30 minutes later take the 2nd, then 30 minutes for the 3rd.

But......how long do the pills last....90 minutes. The pills last 30 minutes each is what they are saying. Say you take one pill at 1, it wears off, so you have to take another one at 1:30, it wears off at 2, so you pop the last one, it wears off at 2:30 - that's 90 minutes.

I understand that they would remain in your hands (or on the table, in the bottle, whatever) for 60 minutes, but they didn't specifically ask that.

I did not take the test but the answer to your question is simple. The first pill starts at zero minutes, the 2nd pill at 30 minutes and the 3rd pill at 60 minutes. I do not think you wait 30 minutes to take the first pill.

I see your point Keymastur but semantics is our problem. The question, if I understand it, was how many minutes would the pills last not the effect of the pills. The actual pills would be gone in 60 minutes but the question could be interpreted to mean effect as well. Questions that have more that one possible answer cannot be a good indicator of anything. Lets flunk the test, bitch slap the maker, and move on.
