    never jump to conclusions!...

I am driving w/my 17yr old nephew, I am almost up to my house when I look in my rearview mirror and notice a cop flipping a u turn and right away I knew I did somthing wrong. So I made it over the hill and sped up to my driveway b-4 he could make it over the hill. My nephew and I exited out of the vechicle and I slamed my door shut not realizing my seat belt was caught up in the door jam and my door swung open enough for the dome light to come on, (mind you I do not have lic.) I ran into my house, took off my sweat shirt and told my sister to put it on as I give her a brief run down of what's going on. Sure enough, a knock on the door "it's the cops" and they want to know who was driving and why were they in such in a rush to get into the house and leaving the driver door propped open.My sister tells them that she was driving my nephew home frm work, but they are not buying it.They took one look at me and asked to see my lic. I told them that I was not driving and that I been here all day at the house. They asked me again and I kept to my story. This time they said that if I do not show them my lic that they were going to take me to jail for obstuction of justice. Again I said I do not have a lic and that I have not left my house all day. Well they arrested me and when they put me patrol car, as look at the windshield I notice a dash cam and monitor with my pic on it, as they drove by me going the other way. Well now my sister recieved a ticket for obstruction justice because she lied to them and I went to jail for obstuction and driving under suspension. On the way to the jail I asked them what they were pulling me over for and it was because I had a broken tail light cover broke, and that they would have never taken me to jail if I would have just told them the truth in the first place!...

Question.. why did you open the door?? The district attorney here informed my brother (in front of me) that if the police come to your house and you are having a loud party, and no one answers the door (door should be locked) and the music is turned off, and the lights are turned off, there is nothing they can do..

The only time police can forcibly enter a dwelling is in the event they hear someone screaming for help from within..

Another situation, had you simply spoken to them not at the threshold of the door, that is from the interior of the home, and turned and ran into the house, and the police had pursued you, they would have broken the threshold, any evidence, and subsequent investigation information would not be admissible..

Next question for you.. why did you bother answering their questions?? by giving a falsehood, that is misdemeanor in most states, you as a USA citizen are not required to answer or assist the police in or during an investigation that would or could involve you directly..

Oh and by the way, if the police start telling you that you must assist them, or answer their questions, ask them where and when did they pass the bar?? and are they licensed in that state, since they are giving legal advice..

ONe last point.. the police can lie to you, it's not illegal..

I got pulled over for an expired liscense, I was like 20 days past the date I was supposed to go get a new one...

The cop, called a back-up cop.. who drove to my dad's house.. picked him up.. and drove him back and told me to let my dad drive the car back to the house.. and gave me a warning to get that liscense renewed...

    another time...

I got pulled over for a suspended license coming back to work from lunch... they towed my car.. but gave me a ride back to work... from there I had to call a bunch of buddies to get my car out of the pound. Had to go to court for that one, where it was dismissed.. but had to pay like $50 in court fees i think.

I never tried running from cops... I figure the odds are stacked against me.

I dont know bro.. U might had saved yourself $100... for actually driving your car all the way back to your house.. cause they couldn't impound it.

spywizard had it correct....my father is a cop and he's told me the exact same stuff over and over....many times i've been to parties and they've gotten "busted"...don't answer the door!!! Thats like rule #1......and of course you shouldn't have talked- but u would have never worried about it if you just wouldn't have opened the door........lol but i'd have done the same thing.....busted ass into the house, shut the door and not have answered....left a ticket on the car? lol what would that have done? i'd have walked out and torn it up.... and they have video of you driving?......u see the video? if not-...i'd fight the charges- i bet they don't even have one...they say that shit all the time w/seatbelt tickets...they don't have u on camera.....i'd say u weren't driving.....the car was PARKED all day.....they couldn't have gotten the license plate.....fvck them.........but if they do have you on camera (which i doubt), then i'd try and work out something so u can get ur sister off that charge....

it all sounds good, but if my sister did not answer the door, more than likely they would see me driving in the neighborhood soon or later and find reason to pull me over even if i had the tail light cover fix or not.but i will have my lic.back before i go to court.

Cops do whatever they want, bottom line. They are not suppose to enter your home without a warrant, but all they have to do is say they heard screaming and all agree on the same story and then its there word against yours. There are good cops out there, but there are also alot of cowboy bully cops running wild!!!

most cameras in cop cars only turn on once the sirens are activated, otherwise there would be like 6 hours on footage of the cop sitting in a parking lot.

I think that if he would've stopped you while driving, you would have been arrested, driving under a suspended license is a big deal, even if they didn't arrest you, they would have towed your car for sure, they CANNOT let you operate the car once they see your lic. is suspended, and they can't tow the car to your house either under these circumstances, even if it was right down the street.

I agree with earlier statements, don't answer the door, and never admit or deny shit, just keep your mouth shut!
