    during workout; sweating = itching?!

Alright, there is something that i have been noticing for a long time. Whenever i workout, i sweat. Duh, obviously, who doesnt. But heres the weird thing, once i start sweating, i start to itch, very bad. All over i itch, basically anywhere i sweat. And it doesnt happen until i sweat. Does anyone else have this problem? What the hell is the deal? Am i sweating out some sort of toxic shit or am i allergic to my own sweat? I leave the gym everyday with scratch marks all over my arms and back just from scratching these itches.

its soap my friends. its an irritant when your pores open up. if you shower to close to cardio or lifting times, it irritates ya.

If you have dry skin then you will itch when you sweat. Also, if you shave your body hair you may itch when you sweat. For me its the water out here as well as just starting to shave again. I found using lotion before bed time or after showering helps this in the long run.

it could be due to the type of laundry detergent u use, dryer sheets, fabric softer,or even you soap if its fragrance,or body wash could be irritating your skin.when you sweat your pores open just like when you use warm water on your skin.

I found this helped me 10fold. I used to use old spice high edurance stuff cuz it got me super clean and smelled awesome. Well, with hard water that has a high calcium deposits and always going to the gym led to me getting itchy all the fricken time. I switched to plain dove bodywash with moisturizer or even the one with a lot of lotion or whatever in it worked wonders for me. The itching stopped so far and ive been using it for a while now.

    I don't think it's the soap...though it could be

    I've experienced it.

My ex-fiancee used to get it a lot. (mostly during cardio)

I addressed this in a post a long while back.

Exercise may illicit a histamine response in some.

This condition is called "Exercise Induced Anaphylaxis"

ya dont try your skin out.

    dont over shower.

if your on anything like accutane and have no oil on your skin it will burn like hell.

those that tan alot it also dries your skin so might itch/hurt.

Interesting. That may actually be it, because i know when my skin is dry, and its not. That kinda what i was thinking to begin with, but i didnt know if it existed. I dont get itchy when i sweat normally, just when working out.

Actually, I think that might be it, the only thing I changed is I randomly shaved my body hair a few weeks ago, and that was probably when it started.

Try non-drowsy Claritin before you work out.

    What if you don't scratch?

Any of you ever not scratched an itch? What does that do to your brains?!

I have never head itching as you describe it...

Some people say dried skin, etc..

Do you have any rash, or cracked skin at all?

I used to have that happen and than suddenly it would go away. It very well may be something coming out of your pours kind of like a detox. Check your detergent, soap, shampoo, lotion etc

I have been having this itching problem really bad lately, and it is driving me crazy. As soon as my body temp warms up, I go apesh*t trying to scratch my back. I have done some research and it is possibly a bacterial infection. I am going to get some antibiotic and see if that helps.

Did some research and this is the best answer I could come up with.
