Biggest Loser before/after Pics
http://www.tv.yahoo.com/slideshow/248/photos/1
Does anyone else think they aren't running this show for a long enough time to see good results? I mean, numbers-wise, yeah they lost the lbs but do you see a lot of attractive bodies in the "after" pictures?
Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I'd like to see before and after BODIES, not clothed glamor shots, and I would want to see the trainers build these people into good forms rather than take a REALLY fat slob and work him into a normal fat ass.
JMHO.

My wife is a religious watcher of the biggest loser, therefore, I have watched my fair share of episodes.
I guess I dont really see where you get this idea that they just work these people into normal fat asses. In 15 weeks, almost all of the contestants, including the women, have lost around or over 100 lbs. These people have had their lives changed. They have been shown how to properly train and eat, and additionally receive some of the mental help and support they need. Most of these people are now capable or running full triatholons, mini and full marathons, etc. The self worth that is created by this program is great. If you ran the show longer, we would start watching people working out who no longer are making such great personal progress (both mental and physical), and who only lose 1-2 pounds per week...not much of a TV premise.
What has been done in 15 weeks is nothing short of spectacular. These severely obese people now can live their lives...it is not about being ripped as much as it is about being healthy - about living.

Does anybody else think that Ali is hot as hell now?
I also think Mark is losing way too much weight just to stay in the game. He's starting to look bad.

I don't agree with the way they lose the weight with what seems to be over training and not enough food but I do commend them wanting to better themselves.

It is crazy that this last week, week 15, all of the contestants lost over 10 lbs in one week! I mean Mark weighed like 185 a week ago, and then he lost 15 lbs. That's probably too much.
However, for the most part, I have seen that they do a good job of eating at least close to enough food. 2000+ calories per day for women and 2500+ for men.

Maybe I should clarify my stance.
I DO commend these people for their incredible weight loss. I only watched the very first season (and not ALL of it) and saw the photos of the before/after for the current season.
I have been undergoing a lifestyle change myself, and to begin with, i wasn't very far from where MOST of these guys were. I guess I just have different goals.

I think the weight loss is amazing, but would hate to see the stretch marks and loose skin after loosing so much weight so quickly... guess that's why with the after pics they all have there clothes on.
Id rather be chunky and with taught skin, rather than have lots of flappy skin. But thats just my personal opinion.

i havent followed this show but i saw last season..i find it stupid how they measure based on weight alone. it should be a measure of bodyfat. last season one guy got ****in like jacked, and lost well over 100 lbs, but his brother won because he lost more lbs. wicked show tho, changes alot of peoples lives.

i to applaud these people for their changes....But I dont know that I necessarily agree with a couple of things
I think these people get hung up to much with what the scale sais....Body composition should be the focus, not the pounds
I think taking into account muscle mass to bodyfat ratios would be more correct, and a more healthy goal to strive for rather than "weight loss"
an example...I remember from a while back......i watched a season finali.....Now their was one guy in particular, who actually some real good muscle growth....he had very very low bodyfat, no lose skin, and some great muscle development....He gained so much muscle, that he knew he lost the game because of the positive weight. Now who really won here??????? when compared to other people who may have lost more "weight", but have a far inferior body composition...thats why I am not a big big fan of the show and think its a little unfair...
its not the first time either......another example.....their was some kind of show, where all these overweight ladies had to get in shape, same kind of idea as biggest loser.....One lady in particular, just took off and really progressed faster than the other ladies......she made the most progress by far.....and she started to actually look great....Problem is, when weight loss is the focus, its kind of hard to lose the better in shape you get......so the lady who kicked the most ass, lost......now some other lady who was losing a little bit slower moved on....who reallly won there?Last edited by IronReload04; 04-09-2008 at 09:47 PM.

I enjoy the show. As long as they understand nutrition and exercise once they leave the camp, thats what matters.

I think that it is fcukin disgraceful that people let themselves get in that state in the first place!!! I don't think that you should be more than about 10 lbs overweight .... that means 10 lbs of extra fat!!
My wife thinks she is fat (and she is!!) and she has NEVER EVER been over 150lbs .... most of the women there are starting at 100 lbs above that!! WTF?

Its a very popular show in aussie too! The only thing which pisses me off about it is that when the serious is aired all these other fat loss shows come on and thats all there is on televison.....reason why I ended up getting pay tv!
