The noise they jokingly call music, someone screeching off key to a lot of drum noise and the same few bars repeated over and over and over. At our gym, this damn noise is on all day. Worse they play the same damn tape every day. You need earplugs to keep the noise out.

Do you think gym owners will ever get the message that there are MP3 players and smartphones if people actually WANT to listen to this kind of shite whilst they are trying to concentrate on pushing a heavy weight?

I don't mind it for girls but I meant its more of a distraction because it takes my mind off the task at hand and my generation is different from my parents. people in their 20s don't just talk to strangers so most of them aren't going to come up and talk and if you approach them they cant hold a conversation so all the gazing most of the time leads to nothing

Yes actually. If it isn't a ridiculous amount of time just wait a minute or ask someone. Shouldn't have to sit on the equipment 24/7 like a dragon on his treasure lol.

Negative. It's called working in at this point. I'll be through with one set by the time u get back. Get on your equipment and get it done or work in. It's call gym etiquette.

This pisses me off something terrible at my gym. 99% of the time I never have a problem at my gym. Every once in a while though..... There will be some asshole that's on a machine I need and he'll do 12 fvcking sets. I can use the smith, do flys, and finish with the pec dec before he's done with the hammer strength press machine. Pisses me the fvck off man lol

People who stink, 80% of dumbbells on the floor, yeah, Welcome to India and gyms here. I have tried 4 different gyms and this is simply the norm here.

Must be hardcore busy where you are from haha. Working in and taking equipment are two different things. If I have my max on a dead lift bar and someone comes up and starts taking them off when im gone 30seconds to use the for bench or something else I consider it rude. To each their own

New one only yesterday, we have a team of guys who come into the gym to train with their coach.

This guy was sitting on the leg extension machine that we wanted to use. He had his iPhone on and earphones. He had been sat there for ages. I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if he had finished. He said that he hadn't and had three more sets. He still sat there. A few minutes later I tapped him again and asked him if he was going to do his sets or sit listening to music. He said his coach had told him to wait FIFTEEN MINUTES between sets!

I found his coach and asked him what the hell was going on. He told me that it's necessary to have a fifteen minute pause between sets. I took him to the manager of the gym. If 12 people each have to do 4 sets with 15 minute rests between sets, why do the open the gym to the public.

They were having a beautiful slanging match, so I left them to it. Result was no more fifteen minute breaks between sets.

Bottom line - have the nuts to COMPLAIN. Yeah, I know that in these 'modern' times, it's confrontational and we should turn the other cheek, but I was born a long time ago so fvck'em!

A 15 minute rest break was given as advice from a coach for leg extensions lol. What could they be training for? Taking damn near an hour for 3 sets of leg extensions - who has time for that? That's ridiculous.

True we have to leave the "pacifist" sh*t aside and complain more, just yesterday I complained to the manager for most the same reason, the coach will hate me from now on, but I go to the gym to get big not to look for love!

when you're doing double drop sets with heavy dumbells and they land a little too loudly, and someone says "is that really necessary?"

try going to failure with a motion that touches your arthritic shoulder and be graceful putting the weight down... it;s a ****ing gym - not a spa.

What pissed me off was this morning, I just get to the seated military press bench and as I'm setting up the weights some asshole is like "how many sets you have left?"

To which I replied "I just started."

Not even 5 minutes later he comes back again and asks again how many sets I have left. To which I reply "I don't know, but I'll let you know when I'm done." A few more minutes pass and apparently he goes and complains to the guys at the desk who come up to me and start bitching at me for monopolizing the bench.

I'm like "fvck you guys, I'm trying to lift here. I don't see you guys bitching at the assholes that are sitting on the benches texting away." and by now I'm on the warpath angerly saying that he can wait until I'm done and so I went go back to lifting.

I made sure I didn't rerack the weights or wipe the bench down. Fvck 24hr fitness.

    Probably some old ****!

Had on basically following me from machine to machine and the ****er threw his towel on the machine I was on. Normally I am nice and let him/her work in but the way this old bastid went about it pissed me off! I threw his towel back at him and said I will let you know when I'm through! Boy that got his knickers in a bunch!

I think I may have added a big luggie to the bench before I left. That's fvcked up. I agree completely, what about the guys texting? They guy placing his backpack or gym bag on another bench or station while he uses a different one and has weights spread all over the place?

WTF? Fine, do your set, get up and come back in 15 minutes. If not find his car and make sure someone is parked behind or in front of him and park your car so it blocks him in. When he comes out and cant move his car and asks you to move tell him your mechanic said to not start your car for 15 minutes after shutting it off so you cant do anything about it for another 15 minutes.

If it occurred to me to do that, I probably would've. I want to quit that place, but I did something stupid a year ago and bought one of those 2-year passes from Costco. So now I'm telling myself that I'm ready to get a membership somewhere else, but my cheapness won't let me pull the trigger yet.

The backpack thing is happening at my gym recently. I am not sure if it's bc there has been some thief in locker room (ppl with no locks - dah) or they are using it mark territory.

I'm guessing marking territory. My gym has even put up signs no back packs or gym bags on the training area but most people ignore it and there is little enforcement. I know one guy who puts his gym bag on one station and coat on another in the morning then uses a 3rd. If I need one of them I just pick up his coat or bag and drop it on the floor. He hasnt said anything to me so far.

I bring my back pack to the gym as well. There is no rule saying I can't. Are you guys saying it's disrespectful to use it to mark territory, or just having the back pack in the training area in general? I always put mine in the corner against the wall so it's out of everyone's way. Just go there to grab my towel, chalk, etc. when I need to. No one has ever complained about it...but again, it's out of everyone's way.

Sometimes I bring my bag with me. No one has ever mentioned it.... I doubt anyone will. I use it to hold shit I need rather than bring a bunch of small stuff with me everywhere so I keep it in one bag.

It doesn't intrude on anyone and I don't use it to hold machines. I don't fvck around when I lift. I get in and get out.....

There's only one gym I go to that says anything. I know the manager so he's pretty cool about it and just brings it in his office for me. I imagine it's annoying for other people though.

Why should it be annoying? My bag is next to me, not infringing on other people's space, no ones tripping over it.

Now I can understand if the bag is a few feet from the machine..... People have to walk around it..... That's a hazard.

Easy, imagine everyone would do the same, how would it look like? 50 people, 50 bags, pretty crowded I guess. Is not about where you put it or how but is about if you would like others to do the same.

Idc who brings what it where they lay it. Long as my machine isn't crowded.

I don't have a problem with anyone bringing their bags as long as I'm not tripping over it. What's wrong with putting it against the wall away from everyone/everything?
