Besides people who aren’t ashamed giving dumb advice and unsolicited for that matter, I also hate the pickable lockers at most gyms. They don’t provide keys at such gyms and you have to get your own lock. However, even though padlocks are getting smarter, I saw in another thread someone hacking a master lock with a chip from a soda can. It’s quite disheartening and I can’t keep track of the phones, credit cards and cash that I have lost to kleptomaniacs over the years.

However, my best lock for gym lockers is now a closed shackle master lock. What I like about the lock is that the padlock body shrouds the shackle making it inaccessible. The typical pro takes at least 30 minutes accessing and cutting the shackle with a bolt cutter and thus a dumb burglar would take long enough to catch up with him.

They are also made of hardened steel making it hard to cut. Zinc alloy makes them weather and corrosion resistant. With a master key override, you can still access your locker. You just need to insert the key, and turn the dial to the end of rotation. Read the code displayed and use it to unlock.
