thats cool....and dont get me wrong, lately, I have been loving in flames, especially colony and all the albums before that. I love that side of metal too. And if you ask me, I think parkway drive, even though they dont solo, which is their only drawback, can actually play.
But when I am at the gym, I gotta hear the melody. the songs i recommended in the post above, and the ones below.
for example, here's 3 songs i found out about today, that were in a coleman vid
1. lost prophets- start something
2. raunchy- phantoms
3. rise against- tip the scales
I like to hear this kind of music too when lifting. Now I dont really like the first 2 bands much, but those songs are really awesome and what I want to hear.
other songs just tossing out their that i like to hear when lifting
1. candlebox- you
2. stone temple pilots- creep
3. revelation theory- slow burn
and one last thing- divine heresy is heavy and maybe worth looking into. No other song on their album sounds remotely similar to closure. they have some good tunes, but they dont solo, and instrumentally are not on par with bands good like in flames.Last edited by IronReload04; 04-27-2008 at 01:18 AM.

ive been listening to clayman and colony for so many years now that i needed something new. their new release 'a sense of purpose' has actually grown on me hugely, i totally love it, almost every single song on that album is almost perfect.
if you havent listened to it yet, check it out.

I didn't mean to imply mine is metal. I never got into nor understand the death metal / metal stuff, but different strokes for different folks.

I'll check it out.....I am still absorbing all the albums colony and pre colony.....I am just starting to open up to metalcore and melodic death. It seems to me that the quality of these bands is so much better than it was a couple years ago. I trying exploring it a year or 2 ago, and wasnt really to impressed. on amazon.com, it just seems their is more, and better material out there now.
like, last time i was trying to get into it, it was just trivium, all that remains, killswitch and other bands which i still hate like norma jean and lamb of god......its alright music, but the bands are'nt particularly talented instrumentally if you ask me, and i wasnt really aware of how sweet inflames was.....Seems like a different story nowLast edited by IronReload04; 04-27-2008 at 10:21 AM.

it took me about 2 years to grow on me.....However, I am extremely picky when it comes to that genre.....I know where you are coming from.....BUt for me, the melodic vocals in choruses, and melodic influenced by 80's powermetal guitars sucked me in. and eventually, the growling grew on me too. but only some bands can pull it off, some blow monkey balls.
The only problem with the genre, is that some bands dont solo, which is a huge letdown......but plenty do solo, and their is good things about some bands that make up for not soloing.

**** yeah..she can sing man, and play guitar well(not to mention, canadian) i think shes one of the most amazing song writers ive heard in a long time, seriously. death cab for cutie is another one of my favourite bands. radiohead might be my favourite of all time. i love metal, but its not all i listen too. im all about a wicked origonal sound, whether its a chick with a piano or 2 long bearded freaks fingertapping on jackson guitars if it deserves my 12 bucks, im buying the CD.
