external hard drive
i just bought one today. i have a laptop and dont want to use up all of the space on it.how do you put info and other stuff on it? this is the one i bought http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=77150 it comes with something called eSATA slot cover...do i have to hook that up to my comp first? i thought you could just use the USB port and do it?

you have two options, according to that site, you can either connect thru USB or eSATA, so yes, you can do it with USB, and most likely, once you hook up the power and USB, it should show up in your windows explorer as a new drive, if you have Win 2K or higher, it should automatically install it for you

woah, wait a minute, did you ONLY buy the encloser? that's a site for the CASE only, are you sure it has a hard drive in it already? or did you just end up buying the CASE itself? if so, then you have to buy an actual hard drive and put it into that case

yeah but i bought it at best buy so ill just go up there today and returen it...are they gonna charge a fee because i opened it and im gonna get a different one? they have that same one at best buy for 120 so im just gonna get that one instead of ordering it online. im not looking to spend alot of money, the cheapest possible. but is there any ones i should stay away from? besides the ones with out the hard drives in it

go with a seagate it has a 5 year warranty.
