Canadian Government banning all vitamins and supplements!
" new law being pushed in Canada by Big Pharma seeks to outlaw up to 60 percent of natural health products currently sold in Canada, even while criminalizing parents who give herbs or supplements to their children. The law, known as C-51, was introduced by the Canadian Minister of Health on April 8th, 2008, and it proposes sweeping changes to Canada’s Food and Drugs Act that could have devastating consequences on the health products industry.
Among the changes proposed by the bill are radical alterations to key terminology, including replacing the word “drug” with “therapeutic product” throughout the Act, thereby giving the Canadian government broad-reaching powers to regulate the sale of all herbs, vitamins, supplements and other items. With this single language change, anything that is “therapeutic” automatically falls under the Food and Drug Act. This would include bottled water, blueberries, dandelion greens and essentially all plant-derived substances.
The Act also changes the definition of the word “sell” to include anyone who gives such therapeutic products to someone else. So a mother giving an herb to her child, under the proposed new language, could be arrested for engaging in the sale of unregulated, unapproved “therapeutic substances.” Learn about more of these freedom-squashing changes to the law at the Stop51.com website: http://www.stopc51.com
New enforcement powers allow Canadian government to seize your home or business
At the same time that C-51 is outlawing herbs, supplements and vitamins, it would grant alarming new “enforcement” powers to the thugs enforcement agents who claim to be “protecting” the public from dangerous unapproved “therapeutic agents” like, say, dandelion greens. As explained on the http://www.Educate-Yourself.orgwebsite ((http://educate-yourself.org/cn/canadian...), the C-51 law would allow the Canadian government’s thugsenforcement agents to:
• Raid your home or business without a warrant
• Seize your bank accounts
• Levy fines up to $5 million and a jail terms up to 2 years for merely selling an herb
• Confiscate your property, then charge you storage fees for the expense involved in storing all the products they stole from you
C-51 would even criminalize the simple drying of herbs in your kitchen to be used in an herbal product, by the way. That would now be categorized as a “controlled activity,” and anyone caught engaging in such “controlled activities” would be arrested, fined and potentially jailed. Other “controlled activities” include labeling bottles, harvesting plants on a farm, collecting herbs from your back yard, or even testing herbal products on yourself! (Yes, virtually every activity involving herbs or supplements would be criminalized...)
There’s more, too. C-51 is the Canadian government’s “final solution” for the health products industry. It’s a desperate effort to destroy this industry that’s threatening the profits and viability of conventional medicine.
Natural medicine works so well—and is becoming so widely used—that both the Canadian and American governments have decided to “nuke” the industries by passing new laws that effectively criminalize anyone selling such products. They simply cannot tolerate allowing consumers to have continued access to natural products. To do so will ultimately spell the destruction of Big Pharma and the outdated, corrupt and criminally-operated pharmaceutical industry that these criminally-operated governments are trying to protect. I CONCUR!
Pretty easy (and worthless) to get on this board and complain amongst ourselves. Everyone needs to start doing something. You can easily find, and write, your Congressman a letter online. Copy it and send the same letter once a month until you get a response. Squeaky wheel gets the grease....errr juice.
The fact is that we as a community are on average a lot more knowledgeable about our bodies and nutrition than Old Joe Congressman. We know what's right and wrong for our bodies and they cave to public sentiment. It has to weird some of you out that Bayer makes aspirin and weed killer...same company. But people pop aspirin for anything!
Find your Congressman and bug him to no end.

dont you all remeber that big speach from ron paul about the government and getting involve with healthcare.
bad idea. the only reasons business and government do business is cause it benefits them not you.
this is outrages, these are grocery store products for **** sakes.
raid your house? LOL for having vitamins
how stupid is this. what doctors or how the hell did they come to conclusion
or did big pharma's and stuff pay the government to pass this bill..
i dont know what kind of doctor or medical agency would advise an outright ban on the sale of vitamins.
Again it just makes it worse for the consumers and th ebetter products.
I remebr ron paul saying all this control is just benefits the big pharamaceutical companies, its the same with this government subsizidixed health care. you need to have faith in the free market and stop metling with everything.
Btw how come their wasting our tax dollars trying to ban vitamins????
Last i checked what happened to meth, coke, crack and all these other drugs that are doing people harm, hurting, and killing people creating violence everyday. We dont hear about this ever. just ridicoulous and not in canada thank you.
Im sick of elites, forgein multinations and burecrats running our lives.
Also i beleive it was the WTO or some stupid international organization that started pushing this down in the US>
and why the hell our government listening to the UN and the WTO. just some big banks run by the same people who run all the other big banks and disguise it all as humantarian and environmental crises.

That is also a fallacy regarding those drugs as well... While those drugs have a very serious social stigma and "moral" implication, their actual danger to a human beings health is SEVERELY and grossly overstated and unfounded. It has absolutely nothing to do with keeping people safe, its about dollars. In addition, it is the very prohibition of those aforementioned substances which propagates the violence that we see associated with them.

Yeah AAS will always remain a Schedule IV drug in Canada, THANK GOD!! Up here we don't have politicians pissing themselves crazy over steroids and HGH like those maniacs are doing down in the US. I think the last discussions and hearings in Parliament about AAS was at LEAST 10 years ago. You're right about steroids and hockey, it's NEVER EVER talked about, lol. And thank God that Ottawa isn't digging it's filthy hands into hockey like Congress in the US is doing with freaking baseball.
Unfortunately I didn't get to make it to the rally today, I was way too busy. Kaberle, did you end up going?

Yes, what i've bolded there is why I believe is perhaps the biggest reason and reason enough to legalize all these things. Despite whether or not these substances harm people who use them, making this shit banned and criminalized is what fuels organized crime and gang, mafia, etc. crime like throwing gasoline onto a fire (actually it's more like dumping tonnes of jet fuel onto a small fire, watch what happens). By being illicit, this shit literally drives gang and mafia economies like crazy.

well godfather i do agree with you same on the global warming, however he is right those drugs are more serious but its about dollars.
Steroids , marijuana, and vitamins etc should not be their top concerns.
alcohol causes more harm then anything overall im sure, but the LCBO and im sure they make a killing off tax.
thank god steroids will stay a class IV up here.

They really shouldn't be on their list of concerns what-so-ever. They should be as concerned about people consuming and purchasing steroids or rec drugs as they are concerned about people purchasing and consuming grape juice.

ok guys.....all this talk about complaining online is worthless...do something about it...
well here is an idea......we should collectively write a letter, vote and agree on a single letter. Something intellegent and witty that puts knowledgless politicians in their place.....than every person on this forum, and as many people on online bodybuilding bords as possible, email that letter to as many officials as possible....daily.....get thousands of guys to flood their emails with the one chosen letter. Something that everyone agrees upon....classy, intellegent, polite, informative, witty.
