    Any Cigar Aficionados here?

I like smoking and 'collecting' them, but only allow a couple / week. Anyone else here dig 'em, and what are your favorites? I smoke alot of aged Opus X and Anejo, some Fidels, Padron 1926 and 1964, and some other Fuente blends, like Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario, Forbidden X, etc...

I like a few of Cohibas vitolas, but IMHO they are over-rated, like many cubans. Cuban cigars are like wine and other ag grown products, some years certain vitolas are good, others they're not so good, but maybe a couple vitolas are good. There's alot, i mean ALOT, that goes into producing a top quality smoke, much like wine. This cigar thing can get obsessive, finding the rare ones that you really dig is the thing...

Love 'em. I wouldn't consider myself an aficionado, but I enjoy a good smoke once in a while. I really enjoy Arturo Fuentes, Gurkha Legend, Macanudo, Partagas, and Punch. Cohibas are nice and I'll even enjoy a Romeo y Juliet if nothing else is to be had.

    Good thread!!

Arturo fuentes 858 flor fina natural or maduros, I prefer maduros.
from cuba all the cubans are smoking romero julietas. and if you ever get a monte cristo 05, will savor the flavor. it was the best cigar I ever smoked in my life, gave some to some friends and they also said it was the best ever. Cohibas were always seen in Fidels hands even after he stoped smoking them for years. most cubans in cuba are smoking romeros julieta, and they are not bad at all.cohibas are overated.

The problem is there is so much counterfeit cuban cigars its brought down the reputation. Even in Cuba itself, you can never be to sure if they are legit or not.

I've never smoked anything in my life, so i know nothing on the subject,
But how much do cigars cost? More specifically, the ones you guys are mentioning?
is it an expensive hobby? (lol or would you even consider it a hobby?)

Living in Canada I purchase Cuban's,dom, Honduran and nig. I enjoy all but unless you pay for the better quality cuban's it is not worth it. One of my favorite cigars is the Oliva made in Honduras. As far as Cuban goes one of the best is H Upmann Sir Winston but at $30.00 each it is a rare occassion

I haven't had a Mac in years. Cubans can be very good, especially when they have 6-10 years of aging on them, but one thing about cubans is many have tight draws, and that's a pet peeve of mine. The past year or so i've been on a Opus X tear, been building up my stash of Opus w/ 4-10 years on them, the older sticks are unbelievable, super complex and flavor bombs. If you haven't tried a Opus X Spy, im me an addy and i'll send ya one, they are somwhat hard to find.

If you wanna go to a site to learn more about cigars,www.cigarpass.com is a great site, great brotherhood of cigar lovers.

cool.. thanks, i have had opus X.. they are good.. I have noticed that in recent years the production of good cigars is falling off.. I did have a hand rolled while in key west, the guy had to be 102 yrs old.. the shop had him in the front window doing the rolling and pressing..

I too agree about the tight draw.. i hate that, have you tried a draw poker??

    http://www.2ndstreet-cigars.com/acce...raw-poker.html

I prefer a torpedo shape, but to get the gold label, or vintage i don't get that chance..

i have a draw poker, but i have found it doesn't make a big difference, and there is a risk of splitting the wrapper. I smoked a 2003 Taboada tonight, incredible, if you can get your hands on one of those, it's worth it!

If you haven't smoked an Opus w/ some years on it, you ain't living, and Anejo, w00t w00t.

low priced cigar? Fuente makes many great cigars in the 3-6$ range, but depends on your taste, i'm a Fuente ho. Padron also makes a good inexpensive cigar..
