Question.
Can someone explain to me what kind of relationship exist between the US and the island nation of Cuba: here's what i found so confusing, recently all of the candidates running for president except obama dismissed the idea that they will meet or negotiate with leaders of certain rogue nations which included Cuba in the list.
now, if my knowledge is correct: the US has a base and a prison facility the socalled "gitmo" in the island of Cuba. So what heck is going here, at least i'm thinking since the US has base over there, then some of relationship or contract must be existing, and at least the leaders of the two nations should be able to get along fine like US and UK or UK and US.Last edited by J431S; 05-18-2008 at 12:47 AM.

Umm Cuba is a communist dictatorship. We have a tendency to overthrow dictatorships we failed in Cuba with the Bay of Pigs. There was also the Cuban missile crisis when communist Russia was gearing up nuclear launch sites in Cuba for an attack on the us. Kennedy had our navy blockade the Russian ships from delivering nuclear weapons and almost started ww3. Needless to say it is a tense relationship we have a base there but nations have bases in hostel countries all through out history it’s a way of indirectly imposing control.

CIA...use to ( I am not sure now) smuggle drugs from Cuba. So whatever they say in the Media is not true. Cuba government is supported by USA(because of drugs) secretly.
