Let me begin by saying that "Wanted" is a VERY good action movie (reviewed in an earlier thread), and that the stunts, effects, dialogue, casting and premise are all well aligned to this end.
However, "Hancock" is a very good FILM. Containing all of the above characteristics it also possesses the unique ability to make one feel along the way as you laugh, cry and cheer through the final scene (for which you’ll need to wait about 90 seconds after fading to black). Both films feature a surprise twist, but the latter does so in far a more entertaining fashion. The language certainly warrants this PG-13 rating, so you may not want to take little ones, but as with most Will Smith July 4th weekend films, it too appeals to the testosterone-challenged segment of the population!!!
Of course, and one would think this goes without saying but it rarely does so, if you're not a fan of superheroes (famous or otherwise) just steer clear. In other words, please don't mistake my review of this SUPERHERO MOVIE, for something that it isn't...thank you and enjoy!
Action junkies may also want to place these as yet little publicized movies on the radar:
