Right ..... free to air using a (satellite) receiver with decoding software that enable u to watch all channels... like all including payper view..fights, titties, movies, premium channels etc

Its up Viewsat extreme and Also Tessat. Going to add a custom pc/PVR
o yeah i gotta scxr and a macc4003 twin deck DaTT BLLLLAAAAAMMMMMM!!
Calgarian ... I had a pc/pvr setup with an old Coolsat5000, but when coolsat support went to the birds (NEVER again will I buy a coolsat product) I decided to get a PVR unit as they have seriously dropped in price.
The SV-360 at $160 is a pretty sweet deal for a PVR, just add a USB hard drive. The unit is so new that the firmware isn't out of beta testing yet, but it's the most stable beta I've ever seen and improvements are weekly.

So im thinking of getting a another receiver.. i already have the captive works 600s premium.... any suggestions..
I tried doing it once but I always ended up with the free channels that you would get from dish network only.... After weeks if trying and loading the software and buying the male to female and all that bullstuff. I just got tired after a while and opted to go with Time Warner Cable... yeah I know its a expensive but I am paying 69 bucks a month for More channels than I watch, cable internet, and a year od HBO and Cinemax for free, oh and a HD DVR too. Im ok with that for now lol.
I have the captiveworks 6000 platinum or something like that.... I even went as far as getting the serial cable I needed and shmit like that... based on the place that I went to get the software from it said all I needed was just the serial cable I think it was the male to female or something like that.... now if someone can walk me through and not tell me.... ( I am dont know how to get the box up and running I just sell it) then maybe I would be able to get it going.... I am a pretty tech guy but I just cant seem to get it going.
Well, as it stands now, stick to Viewsat or Sonicview for the fastest support. Stay the hell away from Coolsat (they stopped support for many of their boxes that weren't that old). Other brands like Captiveworks, Captain and Fortec are ok. Nfusion is also pretty good, but read up on IKS and it's associated risks before going that way.
If you want to go HD, you'll need a HD box + an "8psk" module to decode the signal from di$h, the module is not needed for BEV.
If you want a PVR, the new Sonicview SV360 is nice, and the Viewsat Pro is a little wonky (image quality is just not up to par with other Viewsats).
If you want a basic box thats cheap and works amazingly well and updates bins with a USB key, go for a SV-4000.
Be aware that BEV has started sending out new cards a few months ago so there is some serious downtime for FTA's to be expected in the upcoming year.
