What a pain in the ass! I'm sure I am not the only one who experiences it too often.

it's happened to me too... i did a re-boot on it... sometimes i think the software is just flaky.
To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including:
* iPod nano (3rd generation)
* iPod classic
* iPod (5th generation)
* iPod nano (2nd generation)
* iPod nano
* iPod with color display (iPod photo)
* iPod (Click Wheel)
* iPod mini
* iPod mini (2nd generation)
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Glad to know that I am not the only one. I should charge it daily but I'll leave it in my car and forget or something stupid. Nothing compares to the Ipod dying 2 minutes into cardio. total nightmare!

I got an Ipod Touch 30gb as my "every day" walk-around unit, and I like it a lot but it's battery life sucks donkeys.
For the gym I use my old Ipod Mini (original version). I changed the battery in it as it was dead, and while I had it open, I took out the 6gig mini hard drive and replaced it with a 16gig CF card.
I love the original mini for the gym, it's brushed aluminum and is tough as nails. It gets hit by plates and dropped all the time and can't be killed. Not sure I could say the same about the Touch!

A buddy went down in a squat and split his pants from crotch to crack.
In the ensuing haste to leave he forgot his ipod.
when he returned obviously it was gone.
I'm glad to hear you can order batteries on ebay and replace yourself because i think it sucks they expect you to send in your unit with sixty bucks to replace it.
i recommend getting a blue tooth bundle; beats having that cord dangling around; i see these guys with tape all over their ears trying to keep the headphone in place. blue tooth ipod rocks!Last edited by scibble; 08-17-2008 at 09:54 AM.

I have a couple of handfuls of iPods, all shapes and sizes. Never had a problem. Well, let me rephrase that, I never had a software problem. The battery life slowly dying is part of 'everyday ware and tare' - Ya, I know its bullshit, but true. If ya'll have laptops, I'm sure you can agree that the batt life is dramatically reduced after a year of use.
