2008 Olympia
Sooo guys/girls what are you all predicting for the upcoming Olympia in Sept.?Jay Cutler is driven to win of corse butttt my man Dexter will hopefully pull this one out. If he dosen't he has stated in the Arnold Classic that he would retire out of it.
POST away, want to hear what you all think!

Dexter will be top 5.
My predictions for the top 5:
1. Jay Cutler
2. Dennis Wolf
3/4. Dexter Jackson or Victor Martinez
5. Phil Heath
Jay will retire, Dennis will become MuscleTech's posterboy and win the Mr. O in 2009. The business will carry on.

On bb.com olympia series when Bob interviews Dexter, Dexter clears up this misunderstading. He said that this is the one year he has a chance of winning the olympia, if he doesn't win this year, he never will. But he said he will still continue to compete in the Mr.O in following years.

Dexter will never win, he isnt big enough. Which is a shame, because he actually has a body some people would want, rather than looking like a retarded freak ala cutler.

I'm going this year and because of the politics of the sport Jay will have the edge. Dex wont be able to win because of his size like mentioned, Wolf I like but he isn't going to win, they should both be top 5 tho.

I was looking forward to this olympia more than ones in recent past but not so much anymore. IMO now 3 potential top 10 competitors are out of the race, no Victor to contend against Jay, or Kai and Branch to mix up the top 10. Jay is a shoe-in to the olympia. My interest is in the placing of the other 3 below Jay. Czar is probably right with his placings. It'll be interesting to see Dennis, dexter, and phil go at it.

heres how i view it. cutler should take first. he is always FULL and thick looking BUT, never really dials in on the conditioning. hes never as dry as someone like branch for example or dexter. i like dennis wolf as well BUT his legs and especially calves, still need to be brought up and for that reason i dont think he should take dexters spot. id like to see gustavo place better, whether you agree or not. branch and kai wont be there??? damn. i like them both.

Cutler has terrible abs IMO, which is a major deciding factor along with many others.
Dexter won the arnold classic b/c he deserved it, hope he at least gets a top 3 finish.

Dexter's fantastic, except for his calves. But his conditioning is phenomenal. It will be interesting to see Victor's comeback following his knee injury/surgery.

i like victor as well, he does have more mass then dexter though.
-
08-18-2008, 08:34 PM #11
victors got a lot more mass than dexter for sure. he looks great overall. victor has ROUNDED muscle bellies, not AS rounded as dexter. but i do think it is asthetically pleasing. markus ruhl, as a person, i LOVED the dude. he was THE personality of body building and will always be one of my favorites for that reason. but he didnt have the overall round look like some others...but he is f'in MASSIVE haja

Dexter is in his prime right about now, so the added weight he put on, will hopefully be noticed and appreciated by the judges.

dexter is an idiot.....at the arnold he pretty much attributed his entire win to muscletech and said he really didn't work hard at all
-

lol i was there. and it was actually really funny he was just playin. arnold mentioned how many hours some ifbb dudes report they spend in the gym training and he said something like no way man, an hour a day thats all man. and gave credit to muscletech for his physique lol but he was CLEARLY laughing as well as arnold and everyone else in the arena. idk, it was funny

Victor is not doing the Olympia and I'm 100% positive. Here is a recent article
On the eve of Kai Greene's announcement that he's skipping the Mr. Olympia, Victor Martinez (last year's runner up) also revealed that he'll wait till the 2009 Arnold Classic to step back onstage. Martinez has been rehabbing a torn patellar tendon that occurred 6 weeks prior to the 2008 Arnold and according to him, "I just won't be ready in time to be my best."
Most industry experts speculated that it would take a miracle for Martinez to recover from such a severe injury in time to compete at this year's "Big Show"; however, despite the naysayers, Martinez almost pulled it off.
"I could do it if I really wanted to, but the results would be no different from last year. I want to show up with a better package than last year and kick some ass!".
When asked who he thought would take home the title this year, Martinez answered quickly, "If Jay shows up in shape, it's his show!"

Its sad that so many top competitors are out. No Branch, no Kai, no Victor, no Ruhl, and no more Ronnie and I was really really excited about the Olympia. oh well it still should be a good one

well if victor was competing he would def. give Jay a run for his money!

Awwww...now I gotta re-think my predictions a little. Will think about it and try later on.

Yep so now its a shoe-in for Jay and all we have to look forward to is who will place 2nd. Branch and Kai could have definately heated up the top 7 I think. I know everyone is looking forward to seeing Wolf but from my over-hearing and understanding is that he didn't bring up anything he needed to. Like his calves, lower back, and more peak in the biceps but we shall see

Since I'm not really good at this computer stuff MD has a couple pics of Dexter 6 weeks out up. He looks MUCH bigger than in recent years, especially the arms. If any smart computer person can put those on here for the rest that would be cool, just an idea

yea at the same place that the competition was on sunday morning you get to have a talk with all the champs....i think it only came with vip tickets maybe? Arnold also talked for like an hour to begin with.....then we got to hear from gina and all the other winners and their training and diet and stuff.....and you get to ask questions too

wow dexter. dat still that dude competin way back in the day? At least he has got confidence to do that silly dance up on stage. Big ups for him being ready to comply. Definently knows how to hold down a comp from what i saw. Cutler will probably beat his asses. ****, im hoping he could pull it off and not be brushed off like he was recently

I don't know what it is but I dislike Dexter. Hearing all this talk about him has me a bit confused, I just don't get it. To me, incomparison shots Heath has him beat out in atleast 75% of them. Sure, Dexter has more "Mature" (stupid saying) muscles but come on. Not to mention he's a retard, that interview at the arnold COULD have been funny but he just mumbled and giggled it was stupid.
In my opinion, the reason the battle is being hyped is so Weider/muscletech (weird, both BBers are signed to both companies!) want to put on a battle they can't lose. They don't give a shite who wins cause either way it's there boy. So they feed the hype machine and then people start believing it. He does look big in the recent pics, but we'll see how he turns out. In my opinion he looks boring and unimpressive compared to Wolf, Heath, Freeman etc.
