    my son has cf and floating shit is a sign of malabsorption,which is undigested fat. my sons shit ,when he eats too much fat, floats and has orange oil in it that also floats. its due to undigested fat cause pancreas does not release digestive enzymes properly.

    On a serious note (yeah right....) if IT floats, it means that your body has absorbed all the nutrients it needed from your food, therefore IT is lighter and it floats (at least that is what I've learned in my Nutrition course)

    I think this all depends on the diet. For example, Cellulose isnt digested and so could influence the density of the poo.

    people starting using zenacow(sp?) for fat loss
    they were told to look for floating shit ,diariah and oil in stool which are signs that fat is in the stool
    zenacow was made so body didnt absorb fat but the fat soluable vitamins would then be a problem
