No, do not eat the potato if there's alot of sprouted growth on it. Something about the reaction that causes the production of some acidic level to rise in a potato. If it;s only on about the 1/4 or less of the potato than u can cut that part of and eat the rest.

It's kinda hard to tell from your picture but to me this looks like what we call an "Idaho" potato.
From my experience you've got nothing to worry about bro, a little sleepiness is a small price to pay.

Don't do it -- anything green on the potato isn't going to do you any good at all . . .

Ya that happens to my potatos if i let em sit there long enough. Eventually youll end up with a potato plant. I say you turn this into an experiment/ potato growing venture.

I did that with an avacado seed once. I was so excited that it turned into a plant, but it got like 7 feet tall in a couple years and not once gave fruit so I got pissed and threw it away

The green things are called "sprouts". They grow out of the potato (no "e" necessary) eyes as the potato (no "e" necessary) ages. As long as there's no green discoloration of the potato (no "e" necessary) skin, you can cut the sprouts off and enjoy your potato (no "e" necessary).

If there is any green discoloration, I wouldn't advise eating your potato (no "e" necessary), as it may be poisonous. Potatoes (plural form, "e" necessary) contain glycoalkaloids, which are toxic and located just under areas with green discoloration. Glycoalkaloids increase as the potato (no "e" necessary) ages and may cause headaches, diarrhea, cramps and in severe cases coma and death.

I've learned something. Didn't know that they could be poisonous. I've always just tore em off and ate them.
