Their new cd "Death Magnetic" is SIIICK! Finally back to that old Metallica sound that they went away from the past couple albums.

It's about frickin time they got a clue and returned to the music that made them what they are.
gonna have to check it out
sorry to say it but metallica is an absolute joke. there are hundreds of metal bands that make them look shameful

can't wait....this year is awesome....just got new dragonforce.....new metallica.....new manowar.....who could ask for more
I dont think I have ever heard any swedish bands before. I should correct my statement, most American metal bands were influenced by Metallica.....LOL
I agree though Metallica's day of being the best band around is long gone. But hey they still play there old stuff at concerts and they put on one hell of a show to this day.
For comparison sake.
Arch Enemy - My apocalypse.

Theres surely bands with better vocals, there are bands that had harder and faster guitar. But no band in Metallica's day could combine both the way Metallica could with the perfect blend as they did.
If fast guitar and drumming was so cool, Slayer and those shit bands would be huge.
It's not about being fast..its about being orginal and having your own sound. Someone hears it and immediately knows who it is....hate to break it to you but your little band there is far from orginal.
Metallica is one of a kind...I don't care if you like thier new stuff or not..but they have always had their own sound and there is a reason why they have been the kings of Metal for decades.

That's all I can do...
Enjoy your little band nobody has heard of and never will as crappy as they sound.

Metallica should've gotten out while they were on top===>...and justice for all!
Amorphic, you a fan of Between the Buried and Me? Now that's a talented band IMO.
I'm surprised. I thought you definitely would've heard of them. They're a little hard to get used to at first, but totally worth it (kinda like Dillinger Escape Plan was, but better).
This is a great song but it's cut into two for some reason (probably cause it's 12 minutes long):
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EpwjGIoK8Y (6:00 min mark is pretty sick)
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZSzQ...eature=related
Prequel to the sequel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWNMMuQzm-A
Selkies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgmtmjtmAwU
Mordecai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STh01...eature=related (listen to the whole song before you dismiss it)
Metallica, Slayer, Pantera. All equal leaders of the beginning of the heavy metal front...![]()
METALLICA WAS GOD up untill the black album after that I have no idea wtf happened to james and eveyone else.....maybe they cut his balls off and he needs to be on TRT!!!

Between the Buried and Me are sick. Flawless live, too.
As for Metallica...Yes they did influence pretty much everyone who plays heavy guitar. If not, then they influenced the people that influenced them. That being said, notice how every comment is "These bands aren't doing anything back like Metallica DID in their day". Past tense. They should have quit after Black Album, or maybe Load. Reload and anything since is a joke. They created the soundscape we hear now, but they reduced themselves to a laughing stock.
And the new material is almost as bad as St.Anger in my opinion, it's so contrived and you can tell they're trying their absolute hardest to be "Metal" again. The instrumental section is ass, sounds like they took any riff they could possibly creat and latched them all together. "Hey guys, we can still play metal". Eesh. The solos are rehashed 80's era solos too.
That being said, I am a performing guitar player and musician (it's my career), and I picked up a guitar in the first place to play metallica. But I personally don't understand how anyone could enjoy anything they've put out in the last 10 years...they sound like a band mocking metallica
metallica lost it when cliff died. to all of you who dont know, cliff wrote most of the music. as much as I like the justice album, thats when they started changing for the worst.
You did and to tell you the truth it hurt... haha
Make fun of St. Anger all you want.,..that was the most pathetic excuse for an album ever recorded. This new one has hints of puppets and their new style. I will make my final opinion on it once I hear the album and can get good audio quality. So far sounds like they have good tone and crunch this time. St. Anger was weak all around.

I practically worship James Hetfield and the rest of Metallica. true, st. anger sucked ass but the new album is gonna make up for it no doubt. check out the song cyanide. they played it live at ozzfest this year and you can find live versions on the net. pretty sweeeeeeeeet!

Just wondering how many of you have downloaded the new album? Thanks to a record store in France, it was leaked earlier this week.. Thoughts after listening?
How could there be so much disrespect for a band that's been playing together for this long... I don't know one person that listens to heavy metal, not one! that did not like metallica... the only people that would talk trash and disrespect a legacy band like that were probably born in 1990 and have no clue about heavy metal and its origins.
chode logan, you call yourself a musician and talk trash about Metallica like that? you must be a poser or not a rock musician that's for sure. what instrument do you play? you probably wouldn't be able to play a lot of metallica's songs note for note much less create something like that.
i don't listen to any of their new stuf either, but I for sure wouldn't be calling them scrubs..wtf?? they made heavy metal popular, from Black Sabbath....
Amorphic, no disrespect, but I couldn't disagree more with everything you've said.
Metallica CLEARLY influenced about 2 decades worth of metal bands. The only band I can think of influenced by At the Gates would be Darkest Hour who sound exactly like them.
That said, Metallica just sound exactly Diamond Head with some heavier Black Sabbath influence.
And Black Sabbath has influenced absolutely EVERYONE, so who cares anyway.
Also, Slayer rules.
Also, Pantera rules.
Also, METALLICA RULES.
(with the exception of my nomination for worst record of all time, the Black Album)
I do like Tool as well, which I think is what your avatar is from?
Not a big fan of Metallica since Lars had a hissy fit about napster...
ricky thunder, I use to jam ol Danzig a lot too.... i noticed in your avy...
She Rides... is a good jam to lift to especially if you have a jamming stereo system...
