i do. works fine. try this squat and dead on the same day. i know it sounds crazy but it gives you six days of rest before the next session. you can do one light and one heavy and alternate every other wk or both moderate. hell i do both heavy and it works fine. you have to cut the volume down on this day. i would squat , dead pick one more auxillary lift maybe some quick abs and out the door i would go

lol! i dont use as much math as i used to. i just have a range and approx percentage i need to handle for certain workouts when i get closer to a contest. in the old days i had each day mapped out exactly to what i was going to do. now i play a lot by how i feel or what feels wk or needs work

I do deads and squats on the same day as well.

And, depending my training cycle... Sometimes both twice per week.

Hmmm maybe i should try that.

    So what if i
    squat
    dead
Then pick one/two isolated movements for each. You think thats enough volume for the week for them two muscles ?

the math really helps a lot for the dead. prevents you from over training. IMO the biggest reason peoples deadlifts get stuck. try to the follow the prieplins table and never do more than the required reps and set pre percentage of weight that you are using

here is what andy bolton does

Wednesday is squat night, starting with bike and stretching same as Monday. For squats I do

10 sets of 3 to 8 reps, working up to 410kg before a show. I work mainly on explosive power always squatting with as much explosive power as possible.

After squats I do 1/4 squats to a box these are done every alt wk and are stopped 5 wks out. The weights I use are 455kg(1000lbs) for 3 reps after which I proceed onto deadlift. I do 10 sets of 3 to 5 reps working up to 362.5kg/800lbs for 3 reps, 3 weeks out from a show but always pulling the weight as fast as possible. Next is partial deadlifts pulled from shin height, these are done using straps as the key here is explosive power and not grip. The maximum weight I have done on these is 470kg/1036lbs 3reps and 420kg/922lbs for 10reps. That’s wednesday done.

Friday is only a assistance day again starting with bike and stretching then onto:

Lying leg curls 4 sets 8/10reps

Single leg curls 2 sets 8/10reps

Leg ex 3 sets 12/20 reps

Leg press max weightt 600kg 20 reps

Seated calf raises 2 sets 20 reps

Barbell shrugs 4 sets 10/12 reps max weightt used 410kg/900lbs

Hammer rows single arm 3 sets 8/10reps max weightt used 200kg

    Vbar pulldowns 3 sets 8/10reps

Dumbbell concentration curl 3 sets 12 done for pump only

Dumbbell hammer curls 3 sets 10reps max weightt done 130lb

Abs floor crunches 4 sets 10/12reps

On weeks that I do deads, Ill use leg press as main movement.
If I Squat, then I use BB rows on back day.
So I alternate back and forth.

I dead on wed and squat on sat, no problems, gives my lower back strength for heavy buckets.

its usually takes 2-3 days till the soreness from the squats/leg day really hits. So i suppose you could do them the day after, or wait like 5-6 days

If I do one and only one all out set for deadlifts (I personally can get away with 2)......on monday, come friday I will for sure be 100% recovered from the deadlifts. 90-99% recovered by thursday. and If i really wanted to, i could squat on wednesday, and it would be fine and I could probably make progress over time doing that, but i might not be squatting to my full potential, maybe something like 90-95 percent of what I could normally do.

I promise you though, 1 set with true blood and guts intensity is more than an adequate stimulus to grow, its just not accepted by everyone.

It changes because I workout four days a week with a day off in between each workout. So if squats fall on a Monday than I dead or rack deadlift that Friday, but than my next week starts on Sunday and I'll squat on Tuesday.

Well i did deads and squats same day and it went good. Lower back really got a good pump.
    I did 5x5 for squats
    rack deads
    ham ext and leg ext

Tomorrow i will do chest/upper back
then later in the week ill hit legs again but nothing crazy.

Next week i will go a little lighter on the squats and hit deads hard and off the floor.

i understand how that goes.....but ya, 3 days seperating the workouts, and I am 100 percent. thing is though that I train doggcrapp. SO alot of times I am deadlifting on say monday and then doing legs on wed. i have things so they are opposite weeks though.

for all intent and purpose, monday and friday seems to be the mark for most people.

I like DC training. I've tried it a few times with good results, but my body seemed to overtrain after a few a blasts.
