Yes, they do serve beer at $8 a glass and the tickets cost $18. There are no matinee prices or dollar theaters. Some theaters have premium seating, where you get exclusive access to a VIP lounge (complimentary Dom Perignon champagne) and get to sit on a leather sofa in the middle of the theater, but that costs about $60 per person. I took my wife to see The Dark Knight for our anniversary and had to reserve those premium seats. It WASN'T worth it! The movie was great, but the leather sofa and champagne weren't justified. Maybe if it was Krystal... But yeah, I could drink pints of Guiness (or Kirin lager) while watching the movie.
And they don't have quarter pounders in Japan. Never had, never will. And a Big Mac comes out as "Beegu Makku". McDonald's in Japan comes out as "Makkudonarudo", "Makku", or "Makku-chan". Oh and if the movies aren't in Japanese, they have subtitles. Gotta pay attention to the listings, otherwise you'll end up watching some crappy Japanese voice actors butcher the originals.
