How Racism Works...
Starting to feel left out of the politics posts... so here ya go
What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama graduated fifth from the bottom of his graduating
class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said "I do"
to?
What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no
longer measured up to his standards? Not leaving out that he carried on an
affair with his current wife before ending the marriage.
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to
painkillers, but acquired them i llegally through her charitable
organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama were a member of the "Keating 5"?
What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election
numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It ignores or minimizes positive qualities in one
candidate, while it covers up or rationalizes negative ones in another when
there is a color difference.
Educational background of candidates:
Obama:
Occidental College 2 years
Columbia University B.A. in political science with a specialization
in international
relations
Harvard Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
Biden:
University of Delaware B.A. in history and B.A. in political science
Syracuse University College of Law Juris Doctor (J.D.)
McCain:
United Sates Naval Academy Class rank 894 of 899
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University 1 semester
North Idaho College 2 semesters general study
University of Idaho 2 semesters journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College 1 semester
University of Idaho 3 semesters B.A. in journalism

I hate the race-baiting and forced victimization in politics, but that post actually made me think about it quite a bit.
I think McCain is actually pretty smart and his grades in school were more a sign of him slacking all the time, but Palin is a goddamn joke. It's embarrassing that she is on the ticket.

I disagree, race and class have a lot to do with it. I guarantee McCain wouldn't have made it though the naval academy if his daddy wasn't a Navy Admiral. Nor would he have made into politics. I'm not arguing that he is not smart, my point is he has go to be the least hard working navy office to ever become a pilot (one of the most sought after and competitive positions in the navy). Palin on the other hand is a complete duche... period

I never would have known the educational background. If you were going off the resume alone, it should be a NO brainer. But then add in the color of a man's skin, and the game changes.
Its the facts people.

AGREE! We aren't in the 60s any longer. I know there are still some simple minded idiots out there, but I believe now that the "race" issue is increasingly becoming nothing more than a crutch or a trump card. I could care less about a candidate's color or any person's color regardless of the situation.
For crying out loud Obama is more white by definition than I am.

Here are a few quotes in the words of Obama himself:
From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's
race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I
was ingratiating myself to whites.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that
made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which
side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike
out and name names.'
I guess it's somehow impossible for Obama to be racist. He's up 10 points in the latest polls and that wouldn't be possible if everyone wouldn't vote for him because he's black. Also, remember the primaries where 90% of blacks voted for Obama over Hillary... tell me there isn't a racial element there.

I wish that were the case, the truth is there are still plenty of closet racists to go around. Racism is still exists, the only difference is that it's no longer politically correct to be an open racist.. Covert racism still exists, If you don't believe me look education, prison and earning stats. I know this personally because I always get funny looks from people when they find out I'm in honors pre-med. At the end of the day racism is just an interesting conversation topic for white people, and the minorities have to live it every day. Trust me nobody wishes racism didn't exist more than me, but the fact is it does. I have learned to accept that I'm going to have to work harder at everything I do in life in order to receive the same amount of pay, credit or recognition as a white person.

McCain finished 6th from the bottom at the Annapolis, and then went on to serve his country with distinction in a way that few ever will. We forgot to include that in his aforementioned resumι. Grades aren't everything.
As for Palin.... What is she doing here? We have to remember that if the average IQ is 100 then fully HALF of Americans are BELOW that. Lots of people identify with her.
Of course black voters would overwhelmingly turn out for Obama. Why shouldn't they after being treated as second-class citizens by the powers that be for so long?

There was an author (black) on either Colbert or Stewart that just wrote a book about this.
I think I'm more inclined to believe that (his theory) any adversity that african americans face is due to the 70% illegitimacy rate!!!!!!
He discusses all of the job opportunities and country club memberships that he's been offerred solely because of his race.

I call it common sense, there is no way you become a navy pilot with a Class rank 894 of 899 unless somebody up top pulls some strings for you. Ask anybody in the navy, its easier to become a seal than to become a pilot. Look it up if you don't believe me, google is your best friend. It really pisses me off he plays the war hero POW angle, being POW does not qualify someone to become president. Especially because he was shot down because he disobeyed direct orders to abandon his mission and return to the carrier. Any other officer would have been court marshalled and at the very least dishonorably discharged. He got a medal. Wonder why you never hear about this on CNN?
btw I'm not a full on Obama supporter either, my vote would be for Ron Paul if I thought he had a shot. I'm just saying that its painfully obvious who the lesser of the two evils is.

You must be joking. Your trying to tell me that because your black you have to work harder to achieve the same as a white person. You must be joking when you are referring racism to the white man. Lets get one thing straight blacks are just as racist as whites. From what I can see if your a minority things come alot easier when it comes to jobs and education. I have been laid off two jobs and replaced by someone that had far less experience, because the company needed to hire some minorities.

How is it white people's or racism's fault that black people commit more crime than any other race? 28% of black males will end up in prison and that's no one's fault but their own. I've never been arrested or to jail... probably because I stay out of trouble and make the right decisions.
As far as education, that starts at home. It doesn't say much about most black parents when 69.1% of black babies are born out of wedlock and 21.5% of black babies are born to teenagers. My sister is a teacher at a school with a high minority rate and many of the parents simply don't care or they just blame it on the school when their children sleep in class and refuse to listen to the teacher or any authority figure. She tells me they're always singing the latest rap songs though.
Where's the self-reliance and accountability?

MR T, thank you for starting this thread. Racism does still exist, and always will. Ive spoken to a lot of "democrats" about this election and barack obama, and ive had responses such as, "theres no way in hell im votin' for that ******", "i cant vote for him, its against my beliefs", "ever since the first time ive seen him, i knew i wouldnt vote for him". They were once hillary supporters, and if racism had nothing to do with it, they would be barack supporters. Hes the much better candidate of the two anyway. I dont watch the news. Its hilarious how the media is blamed for people supporting barack. Blame the media for scaring the public into supporting a war. The bush administration controlled the media.
Ron paul is racist, btw.
And if you dont think blacks have a harder time in life, youre sadly mistaken. Get over yourself. Ever heard of the rodney reed case? A black man had sex with a white cops wife. The cops wife was brutally murdered. One of the cops coworkers overheard the cop saying if his wife ever cheated on him, he would kill her and went into detail of how he would kill her. His wife was murdered the way he described he would kill her. Rodney Reed is on death row for murdering the cops wife. The cop is now pleaing guilty of kidnapping and improper sexual activity on a woman in his custody. Hmm

Despite all of this racism, Obama will still be president.
Don't forget that a bunch of people vote party lines no matter what. That makes up 35% of McCains votes. The other 7-9% are the racists....

Your ignorance in all your posts is nothing short of astounding! I'm not going to get into your bullshit 100 irrefutable lies told by Obama because each of these have been refuted by not only Obama and his truth website but also independent news sources (both left and right). Secondly every statistic available proves that minorities don't have it easier when it comes to jobs or education. Your ignorance about affirmative action shows!

yawn...
As far as marital conduct goes, please take a look back at the last democratic president's "marital and moral conduct" while IN presidency, let alone before it. Yet all the democrats praise what a better president he was than George Bush.
And as far as academic credentials, this really is one of the last things I would take into consideration when deciding on a candidate. Big deal, Obama and his wife went to better colleges. What does that mean? Pretty irrelevant in my book. You might also like to point out, that in this day and age, Obama and his wife could be less qualified and still get into better schools than someone like McCain with Affirmative Action and all the Quotas. Also, you are more or less talking about the "effort" McCain put into college about 60 years ago
If you want to talk about real issues that should effect your choice on the president, please read one of the Obama Lies threads.
I feel the only people using the "racism card" are the people trying to "GUILT" others into voting for Obama.Last edited by VeraDeMilo; 10-13-2008 at 12:03 PM.

Sadly, peter might be right. Gore won the election, and Kerry won the election. The republican voting machines are what bush used to steal the election twice. The voting machines are still there. Republicans stop at nothing to stay in power.

Of course Obama is going to try an cover his past and all the lies he has told. Why wouldnt he? And you mean those independant democrat news sources. I dont care what statistics you try and throw up, minorities have the same opportunities as a white person. That is just an excuse.
