How much is a good bottle of aftershave worth?
I'm starting to make it myself (can't stop making stuff) for the retail trade, and have everything almost set, except for buying some product liability insurance, writing up the MSDS info, and figuring out the pricing, which is the toughest part of all this. I have lots of potential customers who really like my stuff wanting to finish up their Xmas shopping, so I gotta set a good price for my stuff . . .
Cost to manufacture an 8 ounce bottle (nice glass bottle, too) is about $7. I use the same raw material as the stuff they sell in the fancy department stores, so it's quality--no artificial anything. Suitable for aromatherapy, if you're into that. No hormone-depleting pthlates or bisphenyl

like the big guys use, just good, solid, old-fashioned goop to make ya smell purty.
Anyway . . .
I've seen 3.2 ounce bottles go for as much as $300, but it seems that similar stuff usually sells for around $50.
My question is this -- Even if you could buy twice as much product for half the price, and it was something you really liked, would you spend that much $$$?
Just curious about y'all's opinion on prices on aftershaves and colognes & etc.

Just as a FYI, the main function of aftershave is as an antiseptic. It does for a freshly shaved face what antiseptic does for a scrape or cut. It also makes ya smell good.
Aftershaves are mostly alcohol & water, and about 2% fragrance oils, and generally use light aromas that dissapate quickly.
Colognes are the same, but about 4% fragrance oils, and tend to use a combination of light, medium, and heavy aromas that dissapate at different rates, and keep ya smelling good longer.
Perfumes are the same, but up to about 15% fragrance oils.
