Download DVD files on to cdrw

    Whatsup every1?
I have a cdrw drive, but not a dvd rw drive.

Can I put DVD files onto a cd to make it a dvd?
    For example .mpgs

    Is this possible?
I can't find a site that will teach me how....

If you could help thatd be great.

if its short dvd files ie: VOB audio/video then YES you can.
Problem is its still not a DVD, nor will it play on dvd players.

But the DATA will play on a computer in certain software programs like PowerDVD or w/e.
MPG's yes too. Basically any form of data can be transfered (written) on to CDs just not read.
And you wouldn't be making it a dvd, you'd be making it a cd with dvd files that you'd only be able to use on computers with certain software.
I have no idea what software does and doesn't I just know some can't do it.

Google on how to change a DVD into a VCD. You lose some quality but not that much. VCDs will play in most DVD players.

Nope. You have to compress the dvd file using whatever freeware you get. I haven't done it in years so I can't remember what program I was using.

VSO - ConvertToDvd is the easiest program out there. You drag and drop the video files (mostly any format) which it then converts and burns (as VOB) to DVD.

    p.s
Like said above using a CDRW and/or CDR will NOT play in a standard DVD player. You need a DVD CD.

Yes. Even better is if you burn it as a Divx to a CDRW. It will play in DVD players as well.

Only way a DVD player will read a CDRW is if it was specifically made to and says so on the box. Most standard DVD players do NOT read CDRW's.

Most I've used do. The only problem I had was with a friends Sony DVD player. I have 3 different DVD players that did not specify what they read and they all read VCD's or Divx files. If you've bought a DVD player in the last 3-5 years, most likely it will read those file types even if it didn't say from my experience.

I have had many Sony's and Samsung players that wouldn't read them. I gave up and just started using DVD CDs and have never had a problem with any player so far.

Are you making VCD/SVCD or DivX files? You can look up if yours works here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers?...wall=0&order=0

Like I said, I've only had trouble once. It's an old technology that I was using back in 2002-2005 to make a few "DVDs" of stuff I either downloaded or wanted to backup.

I convert all files to VOB.

I never use them other formats. I have no desire to use a CDRW. My DVD CD's work flawless.

That's wonderful for you but doesn't exactly help the original poster who doesn't have a DVD burner.

True but if he cant afford a 25 dollar burner ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151171 ) then he has larger issues.
