31 is pretty impressive to say the least..

when in military my best was 26 straight... now I would be lucky to hit 20. probably more in the 15 range... back then I use to only weigh 165-170.

I haven't went for a max.. usually do 8-10 on back day and use some weights on waist.

    What are your stats?

When I wrestled in high school, 5'9" at 135, I could do 40+. But now at nearly 240lbs I don't know if I can get 20. Back day is tomorrow, so I will see what I can officially do. But Im sure, you got me smoked!

When I was in the Marine Corps in boot camp we had a kid in my platoon who could seriously do about 50....I could max out at maybe 15 in boot camp because I lost so much muscle and this kid was just really skinny and scrawny but tone. I think it just comes easier to some people. I have to work really hard to get up to more repetitions.

I can only do probably around 20 real wide grip pull ups. But I also like to hang at the bottom and stretch my lats w/ weight on my belt

In my prime of rock climbing I was able to bust out 60 (medium grip) in a row at a weight of 140lbs at 5'9'' also could do 11 one arm pullups and 8 pullups with just both my middle fingers. The one finger pull ups would freak people out

I have to agree with you. I'd love to see some of these bigger guys pull 25-60 out of there ass. Its like the muscle tech ads with the athletes and the bullshit weight their lifting. Bet most don't go ALL the way down.

Here is a link to world record holders with pullups. It helps decipher who is bullshitting cause doing 100 pullups at once would be like 5 minutes straight of pullups at least

there is a guy that works out a the gym in fl i went to that could do pull ups with three 45-plates hanging from him, and good form..

can't tell u any stories about him doing 10,000, never saw him do more than ten or 15 in any one set.. but even ten when u have 135lb hanging from u shocked me everytime i saw him do it...he was a lshorta tall guy too, id say 6-6'2''. hand long arms.. so his ROM was pretty long too.

so if you was to remove the weight he was adding, where do you think he could get to,i do dips with 3 25kg plates x 20 reps x 3 sets..if i do the dip with no plates i can just go and go with no effort...its just the same thing

i couldnt strap a train to my back and pull it but does that mean nobody could, ovcourse not, people do and do it quick, where do you feel there strength lies,if you told marius to win the world this year he had to do 150 pull up in good form,do you think he and the other competitors would not go all out and more than likely do it..

When were you in, and did the guy "kip" at all? When i was in the MC there was a major who would rip off a max rep set every time he passed a pull up bar (which is often if you can remember those things are outside of practically every building on most bases). He could easily do 30+ and was not a big guy at all.
