    Chronic fatigue

I had a bad infection and ended up getting alot of symptoms, muscle aches, pain in my neck lymph node, headaches, intense fatigue, joint/bone pain, etc . These symptoms match up with chronic fatigue syndrome, which is a hormonal nervous, and immune system dysfunction disorder. Some people think it stems from the hypothalamus.

I can't find the energy to work out at all it's been almost 6 months. I've lost alot of muscle, I've even had relatives mention how much weight i've lost.

I have extremely low cholesterol due(genetic cause) the level of a new born baby. I'm sure many of you guys know cholesterol is responsible for hormone production including testosterone and serotonin.

I also have a IgM(immunglobulin defieciency) and a borderline IgG deficency even after taking protein powder with immunoglobulins in it. I could have a selective IgG deficiency still waiting on the subclass results.

I'm planning on seeing my regular doc and requesting a referal to an endocrinologist. I read somewhere that a certan center has a 85% success rate with hormone therapy for people with CFS, testosterone and HGH.

I'm wondering if any of you guys have gone through something similar or have any suggestions/advice.

Why have you gone 6 months without treatment? I suppose thats not important now. Do you need a referral to the endo, if not just make the appointment yourself and get the ball rolling. A GP is good for runny noses and skin rashes but will almost definately referr out for that. I would not even bother making an appointment and just have him write you the referral and pick it up and go. It sounds like you already have a fair amount of labs done to start with, dont see any need for the GP..

I agree CFS usually can be treated in one way or another, I wouldn't waste anymore time than you already have. Get an appointment to see someone and get your life back together, sleeping all day isn't going to do anything but make you depressed and out of shape.

    Good luck!

hmm this could be tricky. the relevant bloodwork done by a doctor should be able to determine whats up. im willing to bet you end up on a SSRI/SNRI/SDRI.

I've had CFS since 2003 when I contracted mono. Waiting 6 months from the initial infection isn't unheard and any doc you would have seen would prob ask you to wait about that long anyway before trying a strong medical treatment. The condition is supposed to be chronic and you can't have chronic after only a few months.

After my diagnosis, I went on Welbutrin and HGH (maintenance dose of 2.5/day, about the same they give to the elderly) for almost a year and it really helped. I stayed on Welbutrin until earlier this year (no sex side effects and gives you a bit more energy and appetite).

Everyone's experience with CFS is unique. Some people get rid of it easily, some have to deal with it for life. I started coming out of the woods in 2006 and now have my life back. I'll never be like I was before I got it because of the new lowered levels of every hormone in my body that I have now, and I still get bouts of tiredness, but drug maintenance helps a lot.

Cycles help but I did have an awful reaction to Cypionate so I won't ever do that one again. True CFS affects your liver which is why I'm of the camp that thinks it is caused by a latent virus, not necessarily Epstein Barr but perhaps something like it or that works in tandem with it. I got jaundice once from doing too heavy a cycle. PM me if you want to talk more. I haven't really looked into it much since 06 but I know there have been some studies about it since then.

I am curious about this center you heard about.

I'm pretty sure you need a referal to an endo up here. It actaully even took me months to find out the severe pain I had was an infection luckily that cleared up with a month or so of antibiotics.

www.hormoneandlongevitycenter.com has a ton of info on CFIDS as they call it and other health problems.

I'd be interested in trying wellbutrin and HGH at this point anything that can improve my quality of life would be a godsend. Something like ritalin could work instead of wellbutrin.

I hope you can get someone who will listen to you. I had to go through a couple of specialists before someone would listen to me.

I was on ritalin for a while too but aside from thinking it was not as good as welbutrin the intestinal distress was just too much to handle.

Thanks yea I hope I can get someone to listen as well. My main GP thinks CFS is just in your head, I mentioned it to him and he was like your crossing into the realm of psychiatry.. Which is just ridiculous.

This other integrative doc I'm seeing has reccomended supplements and other stuff. I showed him how my test level was really low years ago when I was 100% natty. I told him I wanted another testosterone test but even then I doubt he would prescribe something for me. He just said meh your test has always been low, and then gave me another requisiton upon request.

My total testosterone almost 4 years ago was 9.3 and 10.2 Nmol/L with a range of 270–1,080 ng/dL (9.00–37.48 nmol/L). From what I'm reading men with a level below 350ng/dl can benefit from HRT. He might be more inclined to prescribe hCG .

What type of specialist ended up working with you the best?
