Yeah...as long as songs ago...I use something similar...I don't pay a penny..I just hate the way Itunes manages your ipod...sync this..sync that...it makes it a challenge just to add pictures and videos...

i've never had a problem with my ipod at all. just turn off the setting to auto sync upon being connected to the computer. i personally can't stand winamp, windows media player, limewire playlists, pretty much ANYTHING besides itunes. and even though they are 2-3x more expensive, i'll probably always buy ipod

The Zune all the way. Limewire is a nesting ground for viruses. I got the Zune b/c I hate the i-phones too. Zune's are a much more simpler, intuitive. $15/mth gets you unlimited downloads.

I beleive if you have a ipod you have no choice but to use itunes for it since I believe all music and video has to be in a specific format. One of those quirks of apple, they like to keep a tight net on their products. Can't replace batteries on your own, ridiculously expensive cables, must register your ipod to your computer but can't help you find it if it gets lost of stolen (isn't that odd?).

I'd say in the future go with a zune, from what I've read as of recently the newest gen/models are as good if not better than ipods to some extent.

    Creative ZEN
I got the zen vision, dropped it once and it never worked properly every again after that...

video has to be mp4 to put on ipod or iphone, if they are anything else you must use a converter software, handbrake is very simple to use to convert to mp4 and just add file to libray. it also has preset settings for ipod

...that's right...Creative makes some awesome players...I have the Zen..small but kicks ass..I like it for the gym...just holds music..tiny but great...so easy to add music to it..Ipod is a commitment.

Ares is one of best shareware I have used in years-just make sure you download it from the correct site though.

Zune ftw. mine slipped outta my hand and tried to catch it with my foot but ended up kicking it straight into a brick wall.. minor scratch but still works like new

Ipod died when I plugged it into my xbox 360, stupid POS, and never worked again

private torrent sites for music, videos and other stuff is what I use

iTunes can be a pain when you remover music from your computer and the device doesn't hold exsisting media when you sync it up again. I love my iphone for books as well, but I have a hell of a time getting them to go in chapter order... I always have to go in and switch shit up with them. I also LOVE it for movies. I use handbrake and put all my dvds on it. Good shit if you ask me!
