    Working in Saudi Arabia

How sensible is it for anybody to work in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia if you do not practice their religion, specifically as a teacher?

What city is the job in, and will you be living in the compounds they created for foreigners? And what race are you? And what country is your passport from? If you are white and have an American passport, you will be treated with awe and admiration.

I will only say this: Saudi is not the worst place to be in the gulf (not the best either but at least you will be relatively safe and comfortable).

Screw that. No desire to leave the good ol' US of A, even for a well-paying job.

one of my friend works in the kingdom. he says the weather sucks over there, high temperatures and dust storms. I don't think I can withstand such environment for more a year. I think it is better to start career at favorable environment if the intention is not only driven by money. good luck.

the summers are very hard, everyone leaves for the summers. I think UAE is a better choice overall. and yes Americans are treated very well! no BS.

I'm going to agree with people here. Although yes Americans are treated well, and yes the compounds are very nice and accommodating to Western tastes, nonetheless it *is* the third world. You will find some things annoying, no matter what. I would think it would be difficult as a permanent move. I know that Western Muslims have a hard time with it, so I can only imagine what it would be like for Non-Muslims.
