Ethical question here.
If you found an iphone on the ground, that was obviously lost by someone, what would you do?
I personally have found myself in the situation and for some reason, it took me longer than I thought to decide.
keep it and use it?
try and find the owner by texting somone in the phone?
keep it and sell it?
or go to your nearest ATT store and return it to them?

I would text or call someone in the phone.. Like Home or Mom or something like that, I'm a believer in Karma AND I have an iPhone so I would definately hope someone would return it to me if I lost it
Id first look through all the pictures/videos.
I believe if the phone was reported stolen/lost they can put a lock in the serial number (ESN) to stop others from using it. Make sure this isn't true before you try selling it.
I work in retail part-time for some cash (I'm at uni) and I've found numerous mobiles dropped by customers, and each time I have returned it to the front desk because I'm a firm believer in karma.
I would keep it...

I would try to help out by getting it back to the person asap.
Like DMS said.
Look at all tha pics and shit. Text a few people to **** with them. Then give it back.
If you ever lost your phone you would know just how bad it is. It suck, so why not try and help some poor sob out
The new phones can be locked from the provider so it will be worthless. I know that when restricted in the UK they will still work outside the EU. ie Iraq/africa etc. Why most people who buy phones on gaybay are from Africa.
When phones are used now days they send a electronic signature, this is what's locked when a phone is Lost/stolen etc.
Return it if possible, i lost a phone once and it was a pain as i had lots of old contacts ill never get again on it.
Attempt to locate the owner as quickly as possible. Like the saying goes, "It's never a big deal until it happens to you."
id give it back
I would attempt to find the person by text/call first and if that failed I would go to AT&T to see if they can help. Being as the iPhone is expensive and even more expensive to replace I would be pissed if I ever lost mine and it wasn't returned. Also, karma will get ya!
Hold it for ransom
I'll keep it! It can be locked by provided but it can be unlocked too and I know how so you can use it anywhere in the world.
I found one a week ago, I turned it in to lost and found at the casino. Then I ran into the girl who was looking for it and I told her I turned it in and she was happy. I wouldn't want it, that's bad for my karma.
I think enough have been said about the subject to the OP... Karma's a bitch! So, do what your consciousness tells you to do.
i worked alot of security for events and also in alot of clubs and some of the guys i worked with would usually take some rude pics with the phone and then turn it in to the lost and found, lol.
i've found several cell phones (not iphone) and have returned each one.
I have had a couple situations like this. i work at a bar and have found 3 so far. without hesitation i turn them in. just as i would like if someone found my phone.
turn it in. I have one I dont want another one. Plus, you can just lock them..disconnect them anyway.
I found a Razor the other day, but it was frozen solid on the ground, completely unusable. I threw it and actually nailed someone that was being loud on the ground from my 8th floor dorm. It was great and many hi-fives ensued. I did feel a little bit sorry, but it was in the middle of the night and I did tell him to stop yelling.
i once found a females hand bag which had a wallet and mobile phone in it, i rang one of the contacts on the phone and eventually returned the bag to its owner, the yound lady then gave me 200$ cash for my honesty.
I returned it, for the record.
It felt good. Definitely better than the couple hundred bucks would have.
I have found some wallets and phones in my time...I just find a way to get ahold of them and return the item, karma will bite you in the ass otherwise and you just have to put yourself in their situation, you would hope that someone would return your phone back to you.
it's good to see most people in here believe in karma.
at my work, we had lots of people leave valid credit cards on the counter and cell phones....
i dunno...i know it's not "stealing" - cuz you didn't pick pocket or take it off a shelf...but the karma and the gross feeling would be bad...
cuz i've lost shit and had it returned, but i've also lost and it was never returned.... kinda sucks...
for me, the contacts are worth more than the phone itself.
JP is right. I would look in phone and call 'mom' and leave a message.
id return the phone. I'd appeciate if someone did the same for me if I lost my phone.
I'd stomp it...I hate iPhones and the dbags that use them.
i cant belive so many of you would keep it. i would kill your ass if you kept my phone and i found out about it. i have sooo much info in my phone its sick and if i lost my SIM card i would be screwed. if i found it i would return it to the closest store since there are so many around me. i wouldnt waste the time finding the owner but i definatly wouldnt keep it or sell it
