Doomsday Science
I pretty much only watch channels like the Discovery Channel, History Channel, TLC and the Science Channel. Probably comes as no surprise to some.
Anyway, I can not stand when they have a program that talks only about doom and gloom. Most of the really good programs start out ok but then you learn about how a billion years from now the Sun is going to engulf the Earth and everyone if they are still around are going to die.
Seriously it gets annoying, so I am going to rant about it. Does anyone actually like hearing about how we are going to die a billion years from now????

i do
because then i can pass down the bad news over the next 999,999,900 generations that their kid will die at age 100
-
lol, I like it.
Then again, I love those channels and find most of that stuff interesting.
But it does get annoying to me in a repetitive sense. I can watch 20 shows and 15 will basically show me the same thing.
Its like a love hate relationship

I get so sick of all that speculation and negativity too. It is interesting in a way but my interest has developed more towards the near term. How do I raise my children to be contributors to a cleaner planet, not how do I deal with the sun burning out. I turn the channel pretty quickly to something useful. Like Big Brother, or Survivor! ;-P

actually, their was one not to long ago, which you cant watch on youtube, i still need to see it, about the world ending on 2012 and how so many different religioins point to it. they do use the bible. which is obviously wrong because jesus said you will not know the time nor place.

Knowing mankind will someday come to an end is a slight relief with me. Knowing we will all return to the same matter that we once were is... ok.

Dude, if that sun tries to engulf me, I'm going to beat it down. Just dump some green tea on it.
We have 30 billion years to put together a strategy to defeat the sun. I just solved the problem in a few minutes.

No. That's cheap programming. Doom and gloom and boloney special effects are the only way they can get most viewers to sit until the end- by providing some lure of suspense and horror that has absolutely no bearing on the subject matter. Pathetic tactics, really. Remember the Nova series? or the original National Geographic documentaries? Good stuff, no junk. I recently ordered a bunch of episodes of a series called Horizon. Scientific discovery is too interesting to be all mucked up with some lame writer's predictable interpretation of "the end."

I just want to fight zombies and shit.
If I have to die, that is the way I want to go out. Blasting zombies.

I LOVE IT.
amcon....it goes back a long ways but mostly is based off of the mayan calender and the fact that is stops at 2012. Its a miss understanding. It signifies an end of an era. An era being an actual unit of measure to the maya. So much has been placed on this because the maya were very advanced with astronomy and mathematics. But...still BS. The world will end in one way or another. When the sun loses its fuel in several billion years and becomes a red giant and engulfs the earth. Or we could be struck by an astroid. Our solar system isnt stationary (just as we are speeding through space at over 100,000 km/hr ) and there are parts of galaxy you would NOT want your solar system drifting into. We could easily end up in one of these zones. The earth as the galaxy is forcing outwad could be flung from its current orbit and sent flying into space and into frozen oblivion. Nuclear winter, disease, famine...man...whatever. One way or another. Its over.

December 21 2012
This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000 years, and was what the ancient Maya were pointing to with the 2012 end-date of their Long Count calendar.
And there are other things that point to 2012 as well, one being the I Ching.
And super volcanos like Yellowstone which in the past couple years just entered what they call the Red Zone, meaning it can blow really at any moment now which would cause great devastation.
I think something with the 4th quarter of Jewish calendar or something is a sign of then end, and 2012 is the beginning of their 4th quarter, or something like that...
and only one more pope, and when there is a "black lord"
Its interesting stuff. To say its all true....idk...but interesting no doubt
haha yeah man That would be awesome. I always have these dreams of being in an "I Am Legend/Resident Evil" type world. Me and small group of people blasting our way through hordes of zombies. Crazy I know, but it would be badass.Last edited by xlxBigSexyxlx; 02-07-2009 at 04:23 PM.
