Adobe Dreamweaver is an exellent program, its not that expensive. You will also have to buy a domain name and stuff. If you have limited skills, I would get a local company to do it for you. But check this link.

Usually it costs 70 to register for first two years and then 35 yearly. I use a company called bestimage marketing for my Number1expert web sight but they make sure it is up in front on the web. I add homes, photos and info as I get them. It costs me 325.00 per month. It use to pay for itself but the past two years the hits have been poor.

The key to web page is that you have the knowledge to keep it on the front page of the www because no one is going to find you on page 6. I don't know what the key to that is which is why I pay a fortune.

The hosting and domain won't be too much.
If you can design the website yourself then it wouldn't cost much at all.

Rip Dreamweaver from thepiratebay with Vuze (must dl Vuze first)
Buy your domain from wherever, Id recommend bluehost over godaddy but there are cheaper alternatives.
Build your webpage! Thats it. But not really, because first you need to learn Dreamweaver, I've been using it for like 3 years so if you have issues I can help.
If you want fast results w/out learning than go to a freesource site that gives out websites for free. Pick w/e design you want, open it in dreamweaver, change the text/imgs to your own personal ones, and wallah, you have a site.
Don't worry about SEO and dont go crazy trying to manipulate your page up the search results.
FIRST it has to be crawled by a search engines spiders and indexed.
If this doesn't happen your page will NOT EXIST. People WILL NOT find it unless they type in the exact url which they most likely won't have.
To get your site indexed you need to submit it to google first. And its not instant, it took me about 3 weeks till it was indexed. 50% of sites aren't even indexed which means they're basically on the internet but will never be found. Another 40% are indexed and buried far in the sandbox. The other 10% are people who actually care about their sites and updating them which helps keep it fresh, relevant and active.
You can use tools at seochat.com to check when it gets indexed.
After that still don't worry about SEO. I wasted a lot of time trying to get my site on page 1 and there are really only 2 basic ways to do it. One is lots of money, 2 is whoring in traffic from well established sites.
SEO is an art not a science, again if you need help start with step 1 and when you get to more advanced steps just get help from someone who knows. I'll help but I can only help so much.Last edited by Bojangles69; 03-18-2009 at 08:34 PM.

Hey thanks, that was really helpfull as I'm making one for my company right now.
I'm set on learning the SEO and how it works as that is going to be a major part of trying to generate leads for my company.
It should not be TOO bad for me, as my company is local, and a lot of my competition is not so advanced, and still rely on phone books.

Very useful information here for those thinking about web sites. Since my business is slow right now I might have to play around with this.
