So I went to a 'natural' bodybuilding contest..
I went to the Philly Classic last weekend. There were about 60 competitors. The best routine was Black Eyed Peas 'Boom Boom Pow' routine where a guy did the Melvin Anthony thing. One question. There is no such thing as a 'natural' bodybuilding competition right? There were 2 competitors who stood out, night and day from the rest. I'd put them around 5'7" 230 7% bodyfat. Is that possible? I'm not hating just curious.
Do they run a prop cycle? How can the judges not be aware of something so obvious? I was friends with Brett and Kraig Feldman (teen national champions) and they looked small compared with these guys.Last edited by F4iGuy; 05-04-2009 at 07:39 PM.

I competed natural for two years, and the comps were supposed to be lie detector tested. The first year wasn't bad, but the second year I lost my desire to compete with guys that admittedly were on steroids competing against naturals and laughing about it
don't know how they beat the lie detector, but that turned me off to competing all together........
I have no problem with steroid use , but a competition should be a level playing field. I mean how could I feel good about winning over some guy that doesn't use steroids when I do??? there is no honor in that at all

Yea, I don't know man. It felt strange. I thought the guys on the stuff looked AWESOME, but at the same time I was feeling like WTF, not cool for the other people who clearly busted their asses on diet and training. I know several people who put 'doing a show' as a goal towards getting in shape. People who might not be genetically gifted but hell I support ANYone who makes the effort. So seeing this at a 'natural' show was a bit upsetting. I didn't feel right cheering for the guys, more like why are you here? Way to support the sport.

yeah a lot of them are on gear.
some comps they just get urine testet, some lie detector.
But from what i know they randomly picked up by luck, so not everyone gets the test.
also when they urine test, they dont test for all sort of gear.
I think its all bullshit and no honour in at all. i went to few natural comps, i thought it was a joke stopped going to watch lol.

Well, keep in mind, if they're piss tested, they only have to be natty at the time of the show. Someone could cycle heavy for 10 years, stop for a couple months then stroll in as a "natural"

Bastard! I was all set to go to the show this past weekend, but the little lady had other ideas.
Ended up spending an hour in IKEA, and then five hours putting together a book shelf.

Natural bodybuilding is like the special olympics... It's cute to watch, but I wouldn't want to be one of the competitors!!

I gotta agree that is pretty messed up if a competition is labeled "natural" in order to create a level field of play and those who do not follow drug free training should be disgraced and ashamed. No honor.

If they want to have natural competitions, they need to have very very rigorous testing, which will cost money, which natural competitions don't make. It's just all pointless. I would say 95% of the winners are juicing, and just know how to get away with it. So did you come to see the losers? Did you come to see the 180lb ripped guy? I mean, you can do it for your own feeling of accomplishment, but who likes competing to lose?
