Manny Ramirez
Yet another top hitter in MLB gets caught using banned substances. I'm beginning to wonder if it is even possible to be an elite power hitter w/o juicing in todays game. He claims it isn't steroids , but It will come out that it actually was test, and manny is just too dumb to know it is the same thing.
Can't wait to find out the whole story.
Thoughts?

People need a scapegoat... that's it.
Steroids aren't bad when taken in moderation, correctly, especially under a doctor's supervision. But the GUB'MINT and the DARE program would never get caught dead telling people facts.
I don't understand why steroids are against the rules anyway... supplementing with higher than normal levels of creatine isn't against the rules... why should higher levels of testosterone be wrong? What about the laser surgery people get to make their vision "better than perfect"?Last edited by AandF6969; 05-07-2009 at 11:53 AM.

I think they should just stop the pretense and let everyone use them, since they all use them anyway and I don't really understand why they are banned in the first place.

Just because it's a banned substance doesn't mean that it's steroids or a performance enhancer.
For all we know ... it could be the same type of situation that J.C. Romero was in.

Ban Substances in sports can be the simplest substance. Doesnt have to be steriods . Certain cough meds get NFL players in trouble. Im just shaking my head, Manny just seems to try to tarnish his legacy.
Well at least the heats off A-rod, Go Yanks!!

I believe Romero made an honest mistake. Manny has always been full of shit. Not to mention he uses the same trainer that every other Dominican player who has been caught uses.

Is the Man Ram going to get suspended? It will give him time to get a haircut .

He got to pitch in the playoffs and the World Series because he fought it, and he is now suing the company that made the product, Vitaminshoppe, and GNC for the money he is losing while suspended. Yet Manny, who purposely tanked it in Boston so he could get traded and become a free agent for a big pay day, is doing nothing about the suspension even though it is costing him about 8 million dollars. It just seems a little strange to me

That sucks. They should go back to testing 1 player a year or something.

well he could have naturally low test levels and nothing to do with juice,, doc may have prescribed him cloimd hcg treatments to get them to normal but any doctor would know that MLB would test for those.

MLB has a low testosterone exemption for guys that get stuff prescribed for low test levels, so if that is why he had it prescribed he would not have failed the test

^ Yes but you need to go through the proper procedure.
MLB makes you do testing through their doctors, not personal ones.

the problem with manny is that he has no heart......he just couldent care less one way or the other.it was always bitter sweet having him on the red sox cus he was so good yet such a baby....he layed down every season at one point or another and always asked to be traded.glad this is happening post-red sox.now the dodgers have the manny cancer.

i should have known from the beginning u were a boston fan. manny draws more fans then anyone else in the league right now. what u guys in boston dont realize is everyone else in the lineup gets better pitches to hit with manny in the lineup. his on base percentage is .492. No one pitches around jason bay and he is so bland and boring

We understand this perfectly well in Boston. When I watch a pitcher like Karl Pavano tear through our line up, I f-ing miss manny.
Manny forced the trade. He was my favorite player before I watched him stand there with the bat on his shoulder for 3 called strikes in a row against the Yankees. Eveyone knows that manny does not stike out looking. He might misjudge 1 pitch, but he is way too good to not swing at 3 strikes in a row. Jason Bay is a pretty good consolation prize. Nobody would dream of saying he is as good as manny. Manny wanted out, and he was going to have his way no matter what it took.
It doesn't take a genius to know that a #3 hitter is better than a #6 hitter.
That's why we're all laughing. Jason Bay will be a hell of a lot more productive for the next 50 games than Manny. Kind of takes the sting off watching his production mirraculously improve the second he got traded. What Manny did in LA last season made it abundently clear he hadn't been trying in Boston for the first half of the season.
BTW Jason Bays stats so far this season:
OBP.479 SLUG.622 AVE.311 pretty comparable to Manny and against American League pitching which is far superior.Last edited by jfalco; 05-07-2009 at 05:03 PM.

wow u just earned some respect from me. i agree with u on how he was acting and he did force himself out. yeah their stats are similar but its what he creates for his teammates thats so amazing. Bay doesnt create or make anyone any better on ur team. really though the suspension in the long run means nothing. The dodgers are still gonna cruise to the playoffs in their weak division and manny will be back half way through the season with plenty of time to get ready for the playoffs but he will be well rested.

respect is mutual lightsout.
I still can't help loving Manny.
Are you a pitcher?

Back on topic...
AP reports say it was HCG he was positive for and went on to try to say something about his erectile dysfunction and him possibly suing the DR. prescribing the HCG.
BULL! Tell me if you agree with me and think the media is a bunch of fvcking morons!
His natty test was shut down...he needed HCG to get his nuts functioning again. The ED excuse was to throw off the moron sports reporters that have no clue what they are talking about.
No way he sues that DR. in a million years. That DR. new his nuts were shut down because he had been sticking pins in his ass all these years! I mean who would NOT sue if a DR. cost them $8M?!?!?! It is all BS...MLB knows what is going down...
Read Charles Yesalis' (google him if you don't know who he is) quote on Manny. He is saying the same thing I am...but the media does not get it. Basically he says 'HCG for ED? Uhhhmmm...nope Manny. Nice try.'
“Testosterone and similar drugs are effective for erectile dysfunction in that they jazz up your sex drive,” said Charles Yesalis, a professor at Penn State University who has testified before Congress on issues of performance-enhancing drugs. “But far more clinicians accept that affect with Viagra and Cialis. It’s hard for me to understand if it was erectile dysfunction why they would use it.”Last edited by B.E.N.; 05-07-2009 at 07:29 PM.
