It doesn't matter if were against it or not. What matters are your thoughts on the army. Just think back four years ago and take a look at where your at now. Are you doing what you did then or do you still want to do the same things you wanted to do then? What kind of jobs are you interested in and do they have a civilian equivalent? Remember depending on the types of things you like to do one of the other branches may be better for you. Just a few things to think about. Remember it's a contract that lasts for atleast 8 years.

Any military job makes you more qualified to be a civilian police officer so if u were thinking mp just for that reason keep that in mind. Mp is what I looked into and there's a long waiting list.

Sounds to me like you woke up a few days ago got this thought in your head that you wanted to join the military and now your rushing things without thinking so you don't have time to change your mind. Am I close?

I would go after anything in health care, with the baby boomers hitting nursing homes in the next 10 years you will have a high demand career for the rest of your working life. My friends wife is a nurse in the Airforce (TRY TO GET IN THE AF FIRST) and they are paying her to take time off to finish her masters, and paying for the school.

Just join the Navy. You get to travel to lots of countries, and there is little chance you will see combat in the war we are in. All of my army and marine friends always rag on the navy guys, and always say its for pussies, so that is the only downfall, is just the public perception on the reason people join the navy. Usually dudes that wanna be in the military, but never want to see action.

We've had a lot of these discussions in the past on this forum.
I'll try to post up a couple of links to the old threads with some useful information.
PM me if you want some info. I'd be happy to give you a no-shitter if you're interested in becoming an FMF HM.

i know alot of people are saying scout, 18, ranger, stuff like that. but in all honesty what you are asking for is a career.. combat arms is not career training.. god i love it, and its tons of fun kicking down doors. nothing will top being on a four man stack standing outside a door doing a count down in mosul at 2am... but you can't put that on a resume....
MP's have a correction officer MOS it use to be 95C i think its 31C now not sure.. also 25B (and other 25 series) has a strait link to the civilian world of about 50K-70K. many of the jobs have good cross overs, but some have non at all even if it sounds like it would... 21E - heavy equipment is boring as shit, the units are fun as shit, but the MOS is not one they will let you move out of because of shortages.. don't let your recruiter lie to you and say you will be able to move out of it.
PM me if you have more questions..
and about being over seas, that is about having a family that supports you. its fun and easy over here.. i just past my 23rd month of total time over here, and still have four more months on this trip..Last edited by quarry206; 05-19-2009 at 04:43 AM.

Go for it Bro, I always wanted to be a Marine. I have one cousin who was a Ranger and another who is a marine drill sgt. I screwed up my chance, but if you feel you can do it go ahead.
