lol, it's not screamo
but sure, the scene is flooded with shitty mimics but the bands I listed are top of the line.
And I can respect the "metal" label for megadeath and what not because they are the fathers of it all.
I've listened to it all growing up, the first album i purchased with my lunch money was Appetite for destruction lol.
But I needed something newer, and more brutal, this the deathmetal and deathcore feed this hunger.

well, how the hell could you listen to slash and marty friedman and listen to all the imitator screamo bands today that cant even do guitar solos.

I hate what guitar solos have become.
Guys like Randy Rhodes, Kirk Hammett, Jeff Hanneman, even Mustaine used to write good melodic memorable solos.
Everything now is just about showing off how fast you can play sweeps and add absolutely nothing to the song.

dude....surely when you call upon metal heads, some true metal heads will dislike genres of metal that A. scream and B. dont play guitar solos.

Man, I was thinking about this just the other day.

Solos today are just a way for the lead guitar to show off a bit. They don't have the same melody and feeling as before.

No, I agree with you. I didnt expect everyone to like them, I didn't expect half of you guys to like them. I happen to be close to them and a big fan, wanted to get opinions and honest criticism. The thread was just going into a "I hate all new metal theme".

For the record.....There are plenty of guitar breaks on the album. Just not on every song in a predictible fashion. Imho

I dont dislike it because its "new".....

No matter what year it is, their is always going to be someone **********, a few who can capture that same sound and make it big, then a bunch of people imitating.

It just seems like, right now, their is no major ********** creative band in the whole heap of screamo music.....

Having said that, I probably am more biased towards the 80's....I am more into black sabbath, iron maiden, metallica/megadeth, ozzy, dio etc etc.

I am kind of a music snob too.....All the bands I listen to have top notch guitarists.

another benefit is all of the deathcore bands tour together for cheap,
but the band featured in the poll sounds like run of the mill rock to me.

Definitely agree with all the other comments about unoriginal. Unfortunately this is a very saturated genre, and they don't do much to stand out. But don't get me wrong they do what they're trying to well. But this is also a very popular sound so that could either help or hurt them.

but yah, they do their thing well, just 9 million other bands do it, and some of them much better. Lyrics need work, cliched and not imaginative enough for my taste

don't agree with the comment about solos, not every song should have a solo. I'm a lead guitar player and try to only put solos into songs where they fit, and that is usually only about 40/50% of songs. Having a solo every song to me is as shitty as having none, it's all about the riffs.

I can live with 40-50 percent of songs having solos. But I WILL NOT TOLERATE bands that release an album with zero solo's or 1 or 2 weak ones.

And you are right....solo's dont make the song. I mean look at Tool. They pull it off. And it fricken works. But than again, they are one of the most original bands around.

In the end, it all comes down to originality. solo's or not.

I am listening to the first track off the first link right now.....Its such a shame. everything instrumental is cool. The clean vocals are cool. If it was just clean vocals with these instrumentals......I could really seriously get into this.

I just cant get past the harsh and screaming vocals. I just cant do it. It makes me feel like I am in Junior High. When you break it down, I think thats why I hate this genre so much. ITs trendy and listening to it makes me feel like I am full of teen angst and currently in 7nth grade.

These guys have all been in several different bands. This is there first album together. They are all talented, and bring the house down live! A new album is in the mix. Which is sorta why I started this thread.
