New Motorcycle possibilities
So, after this season I'm going to sell my Aprilia SL1000.
I'm looking for something that has a reasonable amount of comfort but doesn't put me to sleep either.
Right now on the top of my list is the now discontinued Ducati ST4-s or ST3-s, with ABS.
Anybody had one before, any comments or thoughts of other bikes I should look at. I like that it has hard bags, makes it more practical. Looks like it would be a fun bike, but I don't want to get tunnel vision. No Honda's, Kawi's, or Suzuki's.

stopped doing it about 2 years ago.... got bored of riding around the same track night and day! He swears they have nothing on the european and jap bikes...build quality is not great, handling is below par...
I like the BMW's...im actually flying to the UK in september and doing BMW's 2 day off road Enduro riding course in south Wales....

ABS brakes can be a problem, gravel and the like. im not really up for computer control bikes. my friend has a aprilia 900vtwin and its comfortable, naked bike. looks really cool. bmw's seem pricy. you thought of enduro? or motard? they look cool. you like yamaha? idk you leveled the playing field by no jap bikes!

I will not even ride a street bike anymore! People that have never had one do not watch out for people on them and makes it just to damn dangerous if you ask me! Hard to have fun riding a bike when you are constantly trying to do your job of riding and the job of all the idiots out there not watchin when they switch lanes etc. etc.. I hve had a ZX-7 a ZX-9 and my best friend had 2 Hayabusa's and love them but just do not feel good about it anymore!

I like CBR's but i have ALWAYS liked ducati's
and nine...as far as people not respecting bike riders...that's because too many punk kids and their speed freak behavior have made them that way.

how many times have the computer controlled brakes on your car failed you?
gravel and the like / rain are why you get the abs
non abs will out perform an abs equiped bike on dry pavement...at least with a pro in the saddle.
perhaps you've never locked a front tire, but abs gets nothing but good reviews.
Maybe you can be more specific about the problems it can cause.

yes, I must be getting old since I ride a 1000cc v-twin sport bike
and I love it
in case you didn't notice the ST4 is a 1000cc v-twin sport bike
v-4's have more speed on the top end, but otherwise they are quite a bit more tame to ride.
My aprilia has plenty of power, it will wheelie from 0 to 75 mph without clutching. I know a few people who I've let ride it who have v-4's and it scares the sheiet out of them.
CBR is a nice bike, I just don't want one
BMW S1000r will be a great bikes, if you only want to ride for an hour...I'm 6'3'', the leg room isn't fun on clip on bikes.

I think it's more that people are oblivious...and if they are turning in to dunkin donuts, they're more excited to slide down a coffee roll then worried if they are cutting off a motorcyclist.
Every time I've had a close call with a car, it was cause the driver just spaced out or didn't see me. The nice thing about being on a bike is the visability and control are second to none, so you usually have time to react if you're paying attention.

I have my second Busa, and love it.As for other drivers on the road, I find that if you ride, with the mindset, that someone is going to do something stupid, then you are ahead of the curve. It sucks out there for us.I just love gixxers........

There's four bikes that I love and are very different (no sportbikes):
Ktm Superduke 990:
Ktm 950 smR (supermoto):
Ducati Hypermotard:
Triumph Triple Speed (a little ugly, but so fun):

What do you think about this bike guys, is that good choice?
The bike has a 1200cc Buell X1 lightning engine, Buell 6Pot front brake and disc, 23" front wheel, Chain driven 360 rear tyre with single sided swing arm and custom seat and tank.
