Hooking up your own cable is extremely easy. I installed cable for a few years and I've always had free cable since that job. It's a felony crime in most places so I don't know if I should post how....

    Fvck it!

If there's a cable line ran to your house just follow it from your house to the tap (either up by the powerline or in a box on the ground). There's gonna be this small hollow spacer called a terminator that will probably be connected between your cable line and the tap. All you have to do is remove the terminator and connect your line directly to the tap. If your in an apt there should be a box on the back of your building and your line will have a tag on it that says your apt #

they control them by putting filters on your line. Depending on your provider you may or may not get the movie channels. Most providers require a digital cable box to get the premium channels(there's ways to get these aswell). I'll go more in depth when I have a little more time

LMAO great thread...... i'd never doit tho. What if there's a problem with the neighborhood cable and the cable guy (cue jim carrey) comes out and see's the "terminator" gone and a line hooked up in there.....

not worth the risk IMO..... unless you're using the extra cash from free cable to supply your GH..... LMAO

90% of the cable guys who get into those boxes are contractors or work for contracting companies and have no idea what is or isnt supposed to be hooked up. Plus they could care less. All they wanna do is get in and get there job done since most work off a per job pay rather than hourly. The company may run qc every 5 years or so but all you have to say is it's been like that as long as you can remember. The only way you will get in trouble is if they actually catch you in the act of connecting it. The satelite idea isn't that consistant anymore. The dish companies are constantly sending out digital hits to scramble the black boxes. Cable really is the safe way. Honestly if you can meet a cable contractor and offer him $50 he should be more than happy to do it for you.

Can't help with the power bill. I know how to connect a house and power it up without the power company but they will see the draw and catch on fairly quickly.

    OK a few tips.

The little filter thing works until you discover it's gone and they do check ever so often. After the 2nd time they discovered mine was gone they re located it so it's not accessible anymore. Some places it is also UP on the telephone pole instead of at the house.

The converter box that you buy and put in your codes they change the codes ever month or two so you are always having to re load them and it's a PITA. Also they send out a signal/spike once in a while that will fry them.

It can be done but they are all only temporary fixes. Best thing is to get Dish or one of the satellite for TV and pay your bill, no hassles. If it's to expensive get a better job...

I have had free cable with digital for about 3 years now. Granted every area and cable provider is different most people should be able to stay unnoticed. What I did was hook my line up so I had the basic expanded channels which are available without a reciever and the had a friend who pays for cable and has all the channels call and add an additional reciever to there bill. The cable company comes out to there house hooks it up and sends what's called a "hit" to the reciever which programs which channels to allow. The next day I picked upvthe reciever from them and hooked it up at my house. As long as I don't try to order ppv I'm good to go. I just give my friend $10 a month for the reciever.

If your cable tap is an aerial tap it makes this a whole lot harder to do discretely.

    Im sure that will work.
EVERYONE that I have know who has done this over the last 25+ years always spent more time and money than it was worth. It always looks/seems great while you are getting it for free but it's always a big PITA when it doesn't work right and it's ALWAYS during your favorite show or game.

To everyone that's going to try this remember I had/have all the correct tools and equipment to do this so thats why I say it's so easy. It can usually b done with basic household tools just takes a little intuition and patience.

Interesting. They guarantee 100% uptime. How can they make that claim when the satellite companies change the codes each month?

I can't enlarge that pic on my phone so it's hard for me to see but just connect your line directly to the panel without any spacers in between.

In my area, Charter Communications actually has employee's who physically inspect these boxes for tampering. they have a list of people who have service, at the same time, these employee's act as sales men, they knock on your door and offer the service and a lower rate for the first 3 to 6 months.

There is FTJ, but the new codes in the Nag 3 cards have not been hacked yet. Satalite TV is the best and safest way, but you have to wait for the new cards to be hacked. Most think it will take 3-6 more months, but I believe they have been saying that for the past 3 months anyway.

The cost of house hold conviences like cable, internet, gas, electric and phone really tally up. It's easy to rack up over $400 a month just to come home, watch TV and have gas to cook with.

I have charter also and have never had a problem. My exs mother had me hook up her cable and charter called her once and asked her to turn it to a certain channel and tell them how the reception was. She just told em she doesn't have cable and she never heard from em again. That was almost 2 years ago

Just plug it in but if the port isn't fired up you will probably just get basic.

well for now i do not miss having HBO. the sopranos and the wire are off the air. When my basic package starts being too unbearable again i will consider this tread.

lol, was thinking that too, well i have a tool belt and hardhat, maybe i can pull it off

Ok but now i have a second problem, when my neighbor was letting me use hers i went in the attick and switched all the splicers to feed off her cord, now i have to go back up in the attic and find which one comes from the tap

can i use a meter to find if there's current getting feed thru the line?

    Thanks bro
