and god father is totally right get a lexus i have three of them never had a problem, if your looking for all wheel drive get a is 250 awd, if for speed a 350, and for suv rx
id have to agree
nissan and toyota are but far most reliable things around, and honda of course
but i wouldnt buy a BMW straight 6, again mate has the 3 series 2.3 litre and the servicing costs are ridiculous
on the other hand the beamer it is reliable i must admit
but i disagree with buying a lexus, IMO its just a toyota with a BMW price tag
many of lexuses cars are almost identical to toyotas design, just with a few extra luxury options
they usually share very similar if not the same engines and chassis aswell
BUT they are reliable like a toyota
Used Audi bad idea. I know several people who experience electircal gremlins. If you want reliable used luxury look to infinity or acura. Sucks because I want an audi. I like how the a4 is not huge like most luxury brands. Unfortunately its a money pit.
My girlfriend had an A4...it was really nice when it wasn't in the shop! Her dad is GM at a dealership so it wasn't really a financial problem for her, but I imagine it would be for someone that doesn't have a family member at a dealership or shop.
European cars just dont have it when it comes to reliability.
Over here they are fairly reliable but a bit boring to drive. The 1.8T engine can be brought up to big power with mods etc. They are ok to drive very stiff for what they are suspension wise and wishbones go and parts for all VW's are mental money even over here. They generally base the parts prices on the price of the original car.
I have a 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro (auto) at 124K miles on stock 17" rims. Purchased it at 122K a few months ago (one owner). I put down daily 50+ miles (two way) going to work and needed semi luxury interior. These cars are great when properly maintained. Do the following and it will be bullet proof:
-Get new rear right wheel bearing - old one does not last past 100K (something about the rear right side bearing, which is a very common problem)
-Swap for new coil pack - the original one is not lasting past 100K miles. Common issue.
-Timing belt - get that done and you are good to go for another 100K miles easy.
This particular vehicle has a great engine (reliable and long lasting). Quattro (all wheel drive system) works great since I am from East Coast where it rains and snows heavy. Audi makes the best interiors in general and this model has a very nice interior layout as well. No regrets.
my friend has an A4 and he can't wait to get rid of it. It cost him to much money and it is not reliable for the money. He is considering getting a used infiniti g35.
Damn, I did not know Audi's sucked so much.
What about LEASING a Audi A5?
That's what I was going to do, sorry about the thread hijack.
Well down here THE place to get an Audi is The Collection in Coral Gables. Audi is the lowest end of their spectrum of cars that they deal with. Thats the only place here to get a new Audi. It's cool beause you get the same service as the Ferrari and other exotic owners, but with an Audi. My sister got her Porsche there and was treated very well...that could also be because she's a girl, but who knows?

I used to drive an S4... it was a really solid car for whatever that may be worth to you!
I have an 01 A4 1.8T
Its been an absolutely fantastic car while I have owned it. Ignition coils have been problematic for some but Audi has issued recalls and free replacements for them. Common issues are control arms needing replacement, side skirt plastic rusting and needing replacement (cheap fix).
Maintenance is key with these cars, full synthetic oil changes every 3000k to keep the turbo from gunking. Timing belt jobs are expensive as the whole front end of the car needs be to taken apart to get at everything. Once you do the maintenance and take care of it you can get crazy reliablility out of them.
Audi ftw!
