i had no desire to see it and thought the previews looked stupied but got talked into going to the IMAX yesterday to see it in 3D and was blown away. it was definatly one of the if not the bes movies i have ever seen in my life. it seriously blew me away from start to finish. it was a long movie but the entire thing was great

My parents went to see it and they loved it..... I wasn't interested but i'm definately going to go see it now.
I heard it has been written for 20 years or so and the director kept it off screen because he didn't feel the technology was up to par with what he wanted the movie to look like. Pretty cool if you ask me.....

I thought it looked pretty stupid, too.
But if everyones saying it was good, I might go see it now

Same thought as D7M.
I have next week off, so I'll go check it out.
Best

trus me guys i was the same way. i hate movies like that and had no desire to watch it but am so glad i did. i have never been a fan of futuristic movies and have never watched a star trek or star wars movie before. i just dont like those movies and thats why im so surprised that i loved avatar. i saw it on the IMAX in 3D and it was also the 1st time i saw a movie that was totally 3D but the entire thing just knocked me off my feet.

I thought it was gonna be lame too... Especially after I was so disappointed with District 9 which was supposed to be so great. It was a good movie and was definitely worth the money. But, it was a little too long for my liking (I went to the 11 o'clock show and was falling asleep at the end), and I thought the story/characters could have been much better. Worth seeing for sure. 8/10

lmfao
i watched it and didnt like it, but im not realy in sci fi movies since im one of those peoples that needs movies to be realistic
cant stand movies e.d arnold scqazzengegger movies where he runs out with 2 rocket launchers under his arms and starts fireing away at 100 men with machine guns and kills them all, while not 1 bullet hit him
although it is arni, so the bullets could reflect off him most likely

I downloaded this movie too and love it. The word of mouth about the 3D has me convinced to go to an IMAX for the first time.

Okay. I just got back from seeing Avatar. The story is not that great. It's not that bad but not too great either. The only thing that makes this movie worth seeing is the incredible eye candy. The special effects are awesome. Is it a game changer? Yes, absolutely. Now that Cameron has perfected some new movie making technology, expect others to use it to make even better movies. Remember when Titanic was considered state of the art? Now we watch that movie and it's nothing special. That's the way Avatar will be viewed 10 years from now.

havent seen it. not a big fan of cgi movies tho. most movies full of cgi is just ment to dazzle the senses and lack a good story line. the oooh ahhh effect. imo crap.
ill take a good story w/o cgi any day.
most of those movies bomb in box office anyhow, and rightfully so. with the exception of pixar or animated cgi for kids.

I have to say it is one of the best movies of the year, I myself I'm not too into these computer animated movies but I was truly amazed at the work put into the movie ...
Saw it in 3D and considering it is more than a 2 hour movie did not see anyone in my row go for a bathroom break ... everyone was glued to their seats for the full ride !!
Highly recommend to watch it in 3D !
