In Florida its a lot less likely to fail I'm sure but the Midwest is much less body conscious. The main problem is overhead with restaurants and gyms. You would be looking at so much in rent and equipment costs it would take many years to see profits, and even then you would basically have to have tons of liquid assets to get the banking.

My dad looked into a few restaurant franchises before and most sit down restaurant settings required you to have 500 to 750k in LIQUID assets. Mostly what was affordable was subways and the like.

consider the fact you would have probably 200k in just equipment if you want a good sized gym, rent in my area and gym size would be 3-4k monthly, Plus personnel. It would be very hard to be profitable for a few years.
