    Venting about my wife's accident

I let me wife drive one of my company pick-ups yesterday because her SUV was going in for brake service. She decides she's going to take our old dryer to the county landfill, just to help out. My son and I just put it in the garage. We were going to replace the belt on it, but after taking it apart, it was too far gone, so it sat in 3-4 pieces.

So she loads the pieces in the back of the truck and goes to the landfill. Here you back up to a small 24" concrete wall and the trash gets thrown about 15' down into movable dumpsters. Well, she doesn't push it, but pulls it towards the wall. The top flips up and she fell into an empty steel dumpster 15' below. Fortunately there were people there to call an ambulance and keep her from moving once she woke up (out for 5-10 minutes).

I get a call from the hospital that she bumped her head. I rush to the hospital just in time to see her being wheeled from x-ray in ER. She has multiple fractures in each arm, fractured skull, split head (sewn up), and a broken cheek bone. I've been sitting here all day while she's in surgery. She's been in surgery since 7:30 am and it's now after 5 pm.

    WTF!!!!!!

damn man..... I wish her and your familly the best. These kind of surgeries can take a while depending on how bad the fractures are. Not to mention she has fractures in different parts of her body...... sit tight - she will ok.

we're all pullin for you guys!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support. It just happened so it's kinda surreal. It's starting to sink in, how much she does for me, my family and our business.

I just got back from the hospital, she got out of surgery around 5:30 I believe. The surgeon replaced the end of one of the elbow bones and plated and screwed the elbow on one side and her wrist on the other. Now they said there was no skull fracture.
But there was a small spot of blood on the brain but they cat scanned it yesterday and today and don't think it's an issue. She split her head good and was stitched up. And one eye socket/ckeekbone was broken.

The good news is the plastic surgeon didn't think surgery on the eye socket was necessary. They'd just look at it later some time when the rest of her heals up.

Good to hear brother. It's ironic that sometimes we don't know how much we really care about and depend on someone until we are confronted with a life changing situation. I know it was that way for me.

    Ty for your prayers!

LOL, I wiped the dried slop off of her lips yesterday with a washcloth. That's about as romantic as it will get for a bit I think.

I don't think it's sunk in with her yet how disabled (even though temporary) she is. She can't even push the buttons on the tv/nurse beckon remote. She told me to put a spray hose thingy on our shower so she can bend over the tub and wash her hair. I don't see her doing that for several weeks, maybe not at all until all casts are off. She's going to need help with everything for quite a while. And the surgeon said she'll need physical therapy as well.

    Oh well, shit happens.

wow, sorry for that, it's great that you are able to be there for her, she'll need you now more than ever..

It's not fair, and it's often a good thing the patient doesn't see longer term but again, life is an adventure, we live it as best we can..

Continued prayers for a speedy recovery..

    Thanks again guys!

She's doing better today, not as much pain just sitting. They're already trying to wean her off the dilaudid with vicodin. They won't let her go home until she's off dilaudid. We're hoping Sat or Sun. Some swelling has gone down and she's sitting up in better spirits. I helped feed her lunch and she was able to kinda hold the fork a little, more then I expected.

I went grocery shopping today for the first time in many years. Not too bad, but I forgot several things because my mind is a steal trap and I didn't write a list. Next time I'll write a list. Im going to hit the gym (I feel guilty going to the gym) and then visit her again afterwards.

Now Im already thinking when she gets back, maybe a little var, some GH to speed the healing process??

Or maybe I should just throw all caution to the wind and give her a full blown test/deca/Dbol cycle...........
