Concealed Weapons Carrier? Please Read
If you have your concealed weapons permit and you carry a gun, do you keep one in the chamber at all times? Some will say that its dangerous because of the possibility of accidental discharge, and others argue that in a situation you may be unable to chamber a bullet. Whats your 2 cents?

Most newer handguns have systems that prevent accidental dicharge, such as on Glocks, the safety is built into the trigger. If the entire trigger is not depressed evenly the weapon will not fire.
I always keep mine ready to go with one in the chamber. That split second it takes to chamber a round could mean your life. Those situations where you see the guy chambering a round before the firefight starts is for the movies.
Think about how long it takes, or actually do it. Pull your weapon out of it's concealed position, and chamber a round. After that, bring your weapon up to firing position and find your sight picture. It doesn't seem like a long time, but it's more than long enough for someone to take a well aimed shot at you.

No accidental discharge will happen... My safty is my trigger finger
so my m&p .40 would have 1 in the chamber
Unfortunatly canada doesn't like guns too much

accidental discharge due to dropping or drawing is not probable.. however, are you putting yourself into situations of heightened threat?? if so.. go somewhere else..

Chambered always. Not going to fiddle with it if I need to use it. If you are a properly trained CHL (although not all are in my opinion) your finger wouldn't touch the trigger unless you are about to fire. That is why there si a nice trigger guard to put your finger on if you aren't sure.

Should you keep a bullet in your chamber?
What a question
jeez yanks! lol

First off a safety on a trigger is stupid.
Second there is absolutely no need to have one in the chamber.

I don't. Really don't see the need.
But my brother always keeps one chambered.

You obviously know nothing of tactical shooting training. The more steps you put in the process, the more likely that something can
go wrong in that "nano second" when your body is about to expload with adrenaline. This is why all law enforcement agencies have
there officers do the same. This is why I said earlier that I didn't think everyone with a CHL was trained enough.

When I carry I never keep one chambered. I can't imagine ever being in a situation where I can't rack the slide

and if your blindsided by a bat or pipe you arent getting your piece out either way so when why does it matter.
i hung out in bad cities and shityy times doing bad things. I never have been in the sitution where i needed a gun.
Everyone gets so dramitc with there what ifs

A person in attack mode can travel 21 ft in 1.2 seconds From a standstill carrying a pipe, bat, knife etc.. While your chamberimg a round I just barely have enough time to save my life. How far away do you think most life threatening situations are going to start?

The most dangerous thing to have is an unloaded gun. And a gun without a round in the chamber is not loaded.

always have one in the throat ready otherwise it could take too much time and even with a very fast draw not quick enough when your life depends on it you have to be as quick as possible. Only way for accidental discharge is and idiot having a gun if you know what your doing it WILL NOT HAPPEN.

I carry a revolver. A bullet is always ready to go when you pull the trigger. No need for a safety.

always one inside u have to minimize every second by the time u pull out of the holster lift it up at ur target ull have a round coming at u, let alone racking it lol no way. I carry mine 10hrs a day always fully loaded if its on double action I wil not out safety on if if got it in single action I will flick the safety on. in a real life or death situation ur going to pull that pistol out point it at the target and go click and there will be no round inside, u will not remember u have to rack it. at the end if the day u have to go home to ur family. I don't belive in accidental discharge.

How many of you here that carry handguns have actually been saved from serious harm or had their lives saved because you had a gun on you? Not flaming; I'm a big gun lover, but really im just wondering.

Last year at college, a bum was attempting to "get change" from me...When I wouldn't give him any he was persistent, following me, all the way up until i was trying to get into my vehicle to go home for the weekend. I put my hand on my carry weapon, popped the safety off, and he got the picture and took a hike. A common tactic is to rob you if you don't initially give them what they asked for. So we'll never know, but it sure is a great deterrent in and of itself. As far as carrying one in the chamber, sure, thats what the safety on your gun is for. Even if you don't have a safety, your weapon is holstered, explain to me how its going off unless you make it go off?

My cousin has a damn arsenal. If we ever have a nuclear holocaust or civil war, I'm going to his house.. I've had a gun pulled on me (a couple times) and it was no fun.. One of the times I was robbed I disarmed the guy and the gun was indeed loaded (revolver). I was more scared afterward and thankful honestly I didn't pull the trigger on the mfer..
