    Need honest help/opinion!

Good news: new job! Going back into the mining industry/ equipment operating (which means sitting still and eating meals like no one knows) making $23/ hr, with full benefits

    Bad news: Schedule.

Ill be working 5 days on, 4 off, followed by 4 on and 5 off. That sounds like cake right?

Except the job site is 2 hrs away from home (they pay to bus you back and forth) and ill be working 12 hr shifts. So ill be gone from home a total of 16 hrs a day. That means i wont be able to hit the gym those days, ill need to hit the hay. I do have the means of working chest, and arms to a gym comparable level at home, and can do deadlifts at home but not squats (no rack).

If you had this work schedule how would you set up your workout split? Should I just slam upper body as hard as I can right after getting home? This will allow for even less sleep than i would usually be getting. Obviously the days im in the gym need to really count But should i just compress my normal split into the 4 days off, and do an expanded version on the 5 days off? This obviously is not ideal for bbing, but im not willing to give up on a hobby and lifestyle ive had for almost half my life.

Also what should be some concerns for diet on these days I'm away from the gym? Lower cals and carbs on days I'm at work just sitting there running equipment?

Honest opinions/advice/recommendations are all welcome. Thanks so much guys for reading this.

I would just do a normal five day routine when you have five days off and then when you're off for four days maybe comine arms into you're chest (tris) and back (bis) day. You don't want to go without sleep it will hurt your growth and your job performance.

Have you thought about moving closer to work?

The thing about relocating nearer the job,and the reason that they pay to bus you to and from is bc there simply is NOTHING out there. Nearest town is still 45mins away and its got a population of 70 ppl and doesn't even have its own grocery store, much less a gym.

    Any special diet concerns?

I kinda figured that was the case but thought I'd ask. I wouldn't think you should have to change you're diet too much. Youre really only changing one day every other week. I don't think I could take a 4 hour bus ride every day. That would drive me nuts. Especially the drive home. The town of 70 people is prolly made up of all witness protection cases lol.

Not even for 23/hr w/ full benefits? Time and 1/2 for anything over 40 hrs, and double time and 1/2 for holidays?

I just hate long rides I get too antsy. 1 every now and then ain't bad. I guess it depends on the job market around me. Where I'm at now I could find a job with benefits paying close enough to that to make up for the 4 hours of driving but I know in some areas job markets you're hard pressed to find a fast food joint hiring.

Congrats on the new job btw.

Option C I install my own gym in the woods and lift with sasquatch. Then I dry hump the bus to give it a metaphorical F U and build a cabin in the woods with gas burners and minor amenities. My only comfort is an ipod with the movie Commando. I find myself replaying the scene where Arnold carries what looks like a 500 lb log on one shoulder over and over.
