Date + CD help. (everyone please read !!)
Ok, first let me tell you the scenario. I'm taking my girl out within the next few weeks sometime. We're dressin up (suit / dress) and I'm headed down to Miami (or Fort Lauderdale) to have dinner. After that, I would like go out to the beach and dance. Yes, I said dance - underneath the stars (hopefully it'll be a clear night) - just the two of us. Kick off our shoes & [my] socks. I have a portable mini boombox / radio / whatever you call them that has a CD player on it.
What I need y'alls (yes, I'm from TX) help with is making a CD. I have some songs listed - actually 34 in a temp folder right now, but I will be cutting that down tremendously. I need some ideas on some good slow dancing songs. No rap or R & B (even though these are good). Well, I might have a few R & B songs on there (I already made a bedroom R & B CD for her and titled it Si Duck Shun (seduction))
Frank Sinatra - The Way You Look Tonight
Survivor - The Search is Over
Jeff Healey Band - Angel Eyes
James Taylor - You've Got a Friend
Linda Rondstat & Aaron Neville - I Don't Know Much
Debbie Gibson - Lost in Your Eyes
Edwin McCain - I'll Be
There's a few more, but I don't have time to list them right now. So, if anyone has any ideas, please share.
Also, if anyone knows of any nice places in Fort Lauderdale or Miami that are good places to eat at, list those too. I'm goin to start askin some of the guys I work with that are from that area where to go as well. Or any other ideas to add to the date. (Flower's have already been picked out).
Thanks to everyone for the input.......
PS - No, I'm not proposing...yet
PPS - Same girl that I created that necklace thread for - by the way, I ended up getting the 3rd one (3 diamond pendant).

If you want to impress her...big time...take her to The Forge in Miami Beach..not far from South Beach. Then there is a club on South Beach right on the beach called Nikkis Beach Club. You can sway and play or rock till you drop.

Ok... time for the heavy artillery!
"Have I Told You Lately" - Rod Stewart
"Lady In Red, The" - Chris DeBurgh
"Unforgettable" - Natalie & Nat King Cole
"When A Man Loves A Woman" - Michael Bolton
"Endless Love" - Diana Ross/Lionel Richie
And the biggest gun of them all:
"You've Lost That Loving Feeling" - Righteous Brothers
(come on, how can anyone think of a slow dance and not immediately have "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" come to mind!)

How could i forget "Lady in Red" & "Endless Love" (Happy Gilmore was just on last night too). Was about to look on my Michael Bolton Greatest Hits CD tomorrow.
All of the ones I have listed are my random MP3's that aren't on any full CD's. I'll check all my full CD's tomorrow and see what I can find. I do know there is this one song by Lifehouse on No Name Face - track 11 & 12 are both awesome, so I'll probably add those too.
But Red, she hasn't lost that love & feeling....she's got it - for me

If you really want her to melt tough you need:
"Unchained Melody" - Righteous Brothers
(remember the movie Ghost?)
turns her into J E L L O !

I have a few Barry White on the long list, but not really leaning towards them right now. I'll have to check out Al Green.

If you don't include the dance by Garth you are not realizing your full potential. Whatever their feelings towards country, chicks live for that song once they hear it.

mnkc - these songs are good, but most have too fast of a tempo. looking for stuff that i can slow dance to. like you would at a wedding. but mentioning Richard Marx reminds me of that one song from Robin Hood soundtrack - Everything I Do, I Do It For You.
BigGreen - I'm not sure yet if I want to add any country to this. Yes, I'm from TX, and she calls me her little cowboy, but I've already made her 2 country CD's with awesome songs on it, so that's mainly why I'm trying to steer clear of country for this go round.
Excess - how could I forget Extreme's "More Than Words". Good call.
i'm getting close to finishing it up, so I'll put my final list up in a bit.

Wild Horses by the sundays def has my vote....but jewel also does a live version of it that is very classy and widely available on kazaa and the like. Go ahead and laugh at this one clowns, but "she's like the wind" by Patrick Swayze (yes, THE patrick swayze) is a good one as well. And finally, an underrated classic is the instrumental version of the St. Elmo's Fire theme song...

BG-Patrick Swayze? I guess I can't knock it untill I've heard the rythmic groove tones from Mr Road House.
