    Steel Oats warning !

    Whatever you do, don't leave them in your work truck for a week or so. Today i am starving and looking around my truck for a snack. I see some steel oats on the floor in a containing, score. So i am talking to the BF on the phone while i pour in a dish (plastic ones i keep in truck) with some water let sit for a few mins and keep chatting away. They softening a bit and i eat away. I hang up with him and am sitting there listening to music eating when i notice something odd. It looks like an oat but has an odd color to it. I look closer it has legs ! I been eating live mealworms !!!! WTF ! I just about ate the entire bowl of oats before i even noticed them. When i opening the container back up, paying attention this time, i see this:





    If you wondering what the black things are they are beetles. The larval turn into beetles after a while.

    Yup, I have seen that a few times. I even check the new oats before eating them. I had a box completely sealed out in my garage for a long time and when I opened it,..... yup, little critters.

    Thanks for the reminder though. You know in Asian countries they would charge extra for the meal worms. You can buy them fried ready to eat from street venders like a bag of popcorn here. LOL

    Not to alarm you, but these things are known to chew through a frogs stomach if swallowed alive. Did you chew real good?

    that happened to me about a month ago.. i made some meatloaf and put it in the fridge.. the next day i opened the fridge and a fly flew out.. two days later i cut off a slice of meatloaf and heat it up... not noticing the little white sacks until i already ate a few.. in all honesty, it's gross, but its not unhealthy
