How many reps of 315 equal a 405 1RM?
On the flat bench, how many reps of 315lbs would equal a 405lb max? I know everyone is different, but I am trying to get an idea. I can do 315x8 on my first set of flat bench and 330x5 on my second set.
Basically, I am too scared to go any higher then 330 on that flat bench. It's not worth getting injured over something stupid.
I apperciate the replies.

Your max with 315x8 puts you at about 391.
Your max with 330x5 puts you at about 371.
Here is another one; about the same, they just give a few different formulas.

Calculations mean nothing... I know guys who can rep 3 plates for 14-16 and have yet to get 4 plates for one. Sometimes you are limited by the bio-mechanics of your frame.

G, I don't think it's that far off. I did a 1 rep max around 350, the week after I did 315 for 4-5 reps? Anyway, theres a lot of variables there, and the only way to really know is to get under the iron.

I can do 315 maybe 5 times, 405 is my tested 1RM. I feel I'm stronger but my shoulder gives me problems, so it stays at 405.

Id guess and say 315x12=405.

I wish they made heavy dumbells more narrow. Pressing anything over 130's and ROM is seriously limited.

I cannot bench for shit without a spotter. Ive only not been able to get the weight up one time (when I first started out) but since then I just wont go balls out without a spotter.
You guys saying you dont use barbells are you using dumbbells to press? Is there really any benefit to doing dumbbells like does it force you to use different stabilizer muscles? I should probably just throw some in on my next split as I haven't done dumbbell press in a year. I'm more into flies.

Dumbell incline, flat, and decline fly's are the best thing you can do to develope your chest. I get more isolation by using dumbells and its easier on my shoulders. I used to be a bench press machine but then my shoulders gave out. Heavy bench will destroy the shoulders, I wish I never touched a bench.
